i am buying an engine for my off-road car, mugen mbx-5.

i dont know which engine is best; should I buy WS7II X3 or C5BB, both from RB?

what about JP and their FX 21 B-8N?

what pipe combination should I use for the bottom power gain?

id go with the JP, the most recent release of the Collari XS400 has been said to be a really good engine, halls ass, from what i read in issue 111 of racing lines that engine goes like a rocket and one of my mates bought one and said that it flew but its up to you, you seem to have some experience in racing 1/8th on road so it shouldnt be hard for you to choose.

i race for 5 years now, but it was only on-road, i drove 1:10 200mm TC and now i drive 1:8IC for 2-3 years, I had all serpents from veteq till 950R and momentaly i have mugen's mrx4 and jp's r-03.

i bought off-road car (mugen's mbx-5) mostly for fun, i plan to race on-road primary, but still needed a powerfull engine to tie my soul while off-road driving!

well, just now i bought RB WS7II....

I considered buying JP too, since I drive it on mugen, but afterall i decided for RB, which is quite well-known off-road engine!

Elo I only asked because I did not want to recomend a HOT engine to someone just starting out. Since you are not just starting out you will really like the WS7. I have three and they are my favorite engines, very smooth and easy to drive hard!

Hi, I see you have run the Max Power On road motors. The Max Power MF Series of Offroad engines are quite good too. The M8 is very smooth which is my preference. My brother runs a P5 and JP B5 which both have huge amount of bottom end. I have heard the new C5BB is a missile.

The Jammin JP1 pipe is the one you want for a WS7II (or S7II...) it really makes that engine go well. Fuel economy isn't the best but it'll still go 7.5 minutes.

P-5's have best all around power,in MY opinion.Mine is a rocket.Motor isn't everything,but ya'll knew that.hahaha

Thats true.The motor isn't everything...BUT it's nice to have some extra ponies under the hood when you need 'em.

os vspec is the motor to have same power as the rb novas etc and tuned right will idle for hours
os has a smooth power band and loads of torque as the rb jps etc you have to wait for the power they have a late powerband

oh 1 other nearly buy 2 os for the price of 1 jp

I would go with the O.S V spec. I have one in my MBX 5 with a jp1 pipe and that thing has rocked since day one of break in. Breaking was different than my rb's ws7II. O.S said to after the first tank, start driving the car at slow speeds and tune..Rb said let it idle for atleast 4 or 5 tanks before tuneing. It's up in the Air because they say O.S motors wont last more than 2 gallons of fuel, but i know i have put more than 5 gallons in my ws7II and she fires right up, and i almost never have to touch the carb. I would pick between the 2 motors.

A european made engine will usually outlast any asain made engine. Those V-spec's sure are fast though.

V-specs are fast for 2 gallons.Thats it...Unless you get lucky or you are sponsered by O.S. The v-spec could keep up with the P5 but when it hit the 2 gallon mark it slowed down.My P5 is still tickin' after 4 gallons.It's on its 5th gallon right now.

To be fair, we have been getting 4-5 good gallons out of the Vspecs and VZ-B but the bearings are a crap shoot. These seem to like ruinning lean better than rich in terms of piston/sleeve life.
