Hey! Today my velineon 3500 locked down and the esc is fine. I have been looking at the castle sidewinder motor and the connectors are the same as an xl3s. Would that work will a castle creations sidewinder motor compat with an xl3s esc thank yall!

That combination should work jus fineim not a 100% but they should be compatible

I believe the plugs are different, 4mm on the castle motors, 3.5mm on the velineon. Otherwise they are compatible. As for power it depends on the kv of the motor. I'd suggest the 4600kv. Take notethe castle sidewinder combo isn't much more with the ESC

You didn't say what vehicle or if it's 2 pole or 4 pole 3500. If it's a 4x4 like a Slash or Stampede and it's a 4 pole version of the VXL, I would look into the 2400kv funny car motor(Castle in Traxxas blue) It has 3.5 mm connectors and works fine with the 4 pole VXL. It rocks on 3s geared 18/54 and makes my Slash fly! Bashes perfect and never breaks a sweat!! Rock Bottom RC(ebay) had them for $60 delivered.
