The vision race laydown conversion looks awesome ,, when and where does this make the most difference? Once you do this you can only run shorty packs and they have to be taped down with double sided tape right?

I would run this on any indoor surface. It had amazing grip. I re-used the t5 battery post I cut off and screwed them into the side guards and a b6 battery strap fits perfect! I also didn't use the waterfall. I used a batt strap with turnbuckle brace like I do on the b6. It allows you to move the battery further back and the turnbuckle will help brace the chassis.

My T5 was awesome!

Default SC5M electronics

Hello all,

I just picked up a SC5M and this will be my first kit install. I have been out of the hobby scene since 2001. As I wait for the kit to arrive in the mail, i have been researching ESC's and motors. I am not trying to dump a lot of money at the moment and just want to get my feet wet in SCT racing, no bashing. I want to run in the stock/sport class and found the hobbywing just stock esc/motor combo (xr10 esc / Justock 3650SD G2. I was wondering if that would be a good starting point for my application, if so then what turn and pinion gear should I use?

Thanks in advance for helping a noob out.

Joe

does anyone have a good carpet/offroad set-up they are willing to share. Or just a good starting point for me. Just bought a new sc5m , after being away from off road for some time. Any tips would be great. I am guessing rear swaybar and stiffer shocks, but I don't want to just through a wild guess at spring/oil and sway bar size. Thanks.

Are you saying you used the B6 chassis and then used the Vision Towers to convert it to a T6? Or have you just added a B6 lay down to the T5M and added the Vision rear tower?

The Vision tower uses some B6 parts to convert 5M varients to laydown .. They include a template for drilling some new holes in the chassis and a guide for the install.

Do you have a link to the process? I saw a link for towers at Vision Racing, but it was to add 5 series arms, etc to a B6 chassis. like this:
Team Associated T6 4mm Carbon Fiber Shock Tower Conversion Combo | Vision Racing
Would like to see the info on adding the B6 lay down to the 5 series and compare the 2 to see which one I'll go with. Thanks!

My problem with a using the B6 is that the chassis is shorter than a t5 by 3-4mm which I do not like.

You buy the vision rear tower, it comes with a template, drill the holes and countersink the bottom side and you're done. Took me all of 5min.

You'll need a complete b6 laydown transmission. You can use the t5 did if you use the cva shim kit from ae. You'll need topshaft, idler gear, b6 25g brass c mount and whichever D mount. Plus the b6 hinge pins for the inside rear, you could also cut down the t5 ones.
B6 ball stud mount, and rear bumper set.
