so just for my own clarity you are running both motors in this truck? If so is it better when you run the 17.5 compared to running the 8.5 in the same truck?

Yes I ran 17.5 from December to April 8th except for a one off carpet race. Now I am moving outdoors for the summer season and nobody near me has 17.5 so switching to the 8.5 for summer. At this point yes it is has been better with the 17.5 motor, I ran 17.5 spec class and Mod SC with the 17.5 in the truck. Trying to find a good outdoor setup with the 8.5.

Right now I am running a 10.5 Viper 3300kv motor. I would like to know if I run a 13.5 or 8.5 motor, would either one give me more over all power? I want more power than my brother who running a Tacon 3650-3500kv 10t motor.

As I am not a racer, I am looking for a budget motor.

Hobbywing ezrun 8.5t or a 13.5t motor.

HobbyStar 8.5t or a 13.5t motor.

SkyRc 8.5t or a 13.5t motor.

I want enough more to beat my brother.

Thanks

Buzz

If your are running sensorless this should out power your brothers truck.

I should have said I am running a "CHEAP" sensorless ESC as the Viper ESC never did work well and finally just stopped working. So I bought the lowest priced ESC I could find. The ESC does work with my Hobbywing program box.

The sensorless has a lot better control in the corners and smoother over all. We were running the same setup. I tried the Viper and it did not work out that well.

So looking for a better sensorless setup.

Thanks

Buzz.

I don't run astro but having a look through the setups on the link below should give you a good start.

So it uses the same internals from the stock gearbox, just minus one gear?

The motor plate for 3 gear for sure. I am not sure about the top shaft. Someone else verify that. It seems like I recall there being two top shafts. If you had one, it would work on both...but, the other one would only work on one of the configurations. I am no expert!

Case, plate and gear cover is all that's different. All the same internals.
