Default Pre mounted tires???

I got a good deal on some factory pre mounted tires from AKA for my 1/8 E-buggy, and 2wd buggy. I was able to get these cheaper than buying tires wheels and foams separately then mounting them. Should I do any extra glueing, or is there anything I should do before running them?

I have some tires specifically for indoor clay and some for outdoor, what are your thoughts on putting holes in tires? I have a tire punch, which obviously I can’t use now, so should I drill a couple of holes in the tires?

The AKA premounts I bought had holes punched in them.

Sweet I haven't taken them out of the package. So are they glued well?

AKA premounts are fantastic. I have run several sets for 1/8 buggy and 1/10 buggy. My tire punch works fine on the tires after they have been mounted, not sure why yours wouldn't?

I thought it had to be un mounted that way you can get the tire in the punch. How are you doing it mounted?

I'd guess he's using something like this instead of the pliers style punch.

Gotcha, so basically you drill it.

The punch I use is a generic hardware store brand of the same design as the AKA punch (but without sweet hole size markings so I have to guess):

It works on mounted 1/10 scale tires:

...and on mounted 1/8 scale tires:

Nothing wrong with premounts! Always check the gluing before using though

Haven't had a problem with my premounts. They are glued ten times as good as I could ever glue them.

Well damn, you are right!

Just tried it on a set of already mounted tires and it worked great. I was afraid it would punch through the rim too.

Default DIY Nylon Belted Tyres

Does anyone else glue in a nylon mesh to stop the Tyre turning into "pizza cutters"?, i find i get more control, longer life and even treadwear across the whole width of the Tyre. Cheers

Yes, although I used Gorilla tape instead. It does seem to give you more even tread wear.

Thing is you have to make sure it's balanced well, otherwise you get a wobbly tire. I think next time I'm going to try kevlar thread covered with a layer of goop.

The tape in the photo is the same stuff used when your plaster boarding a house ,i think you guys call it "drywalling". By "goop" do you mean ShoeGoo? as i found it did'nt seem flexible.

Yep, Goop and ShoeGoo are the same thing.

It does have some flex to it. It dries hard but it's still a little pliable and rubbery.
