Which 4wd sct to get...
4wd sct has gotten very popular near my race tracks. I just want to see what options are there. Im in a medium budget. Roughly $400. I currently have a b5m that im about to part ways with and am looking for 4wd short course truck to throw down the track. Ive seen the team associated prosc 4wd rtr for about $350. Doesnt seem like a bad choice. it has better shock than the prolite did. Any thoughts on that of any other 4wd sct. I currently have a tekin rsx speedo and 7.5 motor but i dont know how that is compariable with 4wd sct. Please suggest. Im open to used trucks also. Thanks

I have a FT SC10 4x4 that I let my friends use. It's not bad and can be found very cheap online. It's not nearly as strong as the Tekno or Losi but it's not bad to learn on. I have an RX8/Pro4 4600 and a Hitec 5995TG servo in that. I also have a SCTE 1.0 and it is very fast and I also let my friends use this one. It has an RX8 Gen 2, Tekin 4.5 550 and Hitec servo (can't remember what one, but it's nothing fancy). Finally I have a Tekno SCT410. I run an RX8 Gen 2/Pro4HD 4300 and a Protek 130T servo. This one is mine and nobody else uses it except me. It is fast and out handles the other two no matter what the setup is. I have also ordered an SCT410.3. The Tekno stuff is built like no other. Extremely strong, super high tolerances virtually zero slop even after a year of running. It may cost a little more to get one but you only have to do it once. You don't need any upgrades and you will never wonder if another SCT is better because they are not. The SCT410.3 should be out next month and cost $399.99. It does not include tires, body or electronics so you would have to get those. The tires don't really matter as you would have to buy them to suit your local track anyway.
You would have to upgraqde your electronics but you don't need to go crazy. The Hobbywing stuff is excellent if you're on a budget. With the new SCT410.3 coming out you'll probably be able to pick up a good used SCT410 in the classifieds for a great deal.

The Intech seems to be doing really well on the east coast tracks. I have yet to see one in person. I have been considering it for a while. $385 aint all that bad of a deal.

I am an associated guy, the Pro4x4 is NOT a race truck. It is part of the Associated "qualifier" series (this is their hobby grade line).
I had a Factory Team SC10 4x4 (which is discontinued) and it NEVER drove as good as a Tekno or LOSI. The Tekno and Losi are the top dogs in the 4x4 SCT class at the race track.

To me its ethier a SCT410 4.3 or the new Durango 4wd SC which i would give that one time to work any bugs out.
Losi SCTE 2.0 while there good its been less of them , at the tracks we go to ive never owned the SCTE 2.0 but the 1.0 with the MIP conversion and the SCT410 just plain turns better and much better steering out of the box no slop ethier and wear good.

Are you looking to get something for $350 RTR? You may have to spring for another $50 or so but you could always find something used in the for sale section. I have had a few different Losi SCTE trucks and I loved them, the shocks were a little bit small considering how much they weight but were always tough. I also had a SC10 4X4, and if you like doing a lot of setup its not a bad truck. My favorite by far has been the Durango SC410, its really light so it gets booted around by the big trucks if they catch ya, but with the right parts they are just as tough but a lot faster and way more nimble around the track. You would have to find one used since they don't make them anymore. The other benefit is you could probably find a Durango pretty hooked up for what your looking to spend. But make sure it comes with spares, you'll want spares.

Get a Tekno SCT410. Ive driven them all Team associated 4x4, Losi SCTE, Losi SCTE with MIP upgrade and now the Tekno. Each one has gotten better and better. The Tekno seems the most solid of all of the vehicles and handles great. The Losi SCTE with MIP Pro4ormance chassis was also a great 4x4 for me. It was very nimble and fast.

If I were buying one today it would be a Tekno, it's proven and durable.

None, or something used.
But if it's your first 4x4 sct, so not sure about used either. (risking replacement of drive train parts that could cost a lot).
$350~400 is just enough to get a decent chassis, then a 550 motor ($50), big esc ($70?), and a fine servo ($20). (that's considered dirt cheap equipments excluding shipping cost), assuming you got a controller and receiver, and a very decent stick pack battery.
Oh, tires ($40~60) and pinion ($10), and if it's tekno, a a set of wheels ($16) and body($30) and some more on the paint.
