Welcome to the SCT410.3 Wiki!

7.26.17 - BB
In order to run the recommended team setup, you need the following optional parts:
TKR6106 Orange LF Springs
TKR6114 Green LF Springs
TKR6018 composite shock caps (built to emulsion) OR TKR8702 Aluminum Emulsion Shock caps
TKR8027 Shock Stand Offs
TKR6051 8x1.3 pistons(drilled to 1.4mm)
TKR8104 .4 bellcranks
TKR8100 .4 ackerman
TKR5545B HRC Hubs
You also need the Aluminum C Block (others can stay composite)

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

TKR5161 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “A” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5163 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “C” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5545B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, SCT.3/SL) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Allows harder acceleration on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6004T (front)
-TKR6017T (rear)

What spare parts should I keep on hand?
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR5516 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5515 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5542 – Spindle Carriers - TKR5541B Spindles
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Use steering stops/limiter washers... more info here.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Hinge Pin Insert Chart:

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

Sounds good. So I'm assuming you haven't had a chance to get it on the track. I'm also wondering if it will make 10min mains?

I run the RX8 Gen2 ESC and the Pro4 4600kv motor. I like it but then again I've only had it and my SCT410 for a few weeks (and only raced it once) I love the data logging feature of the Gen2 RX8.

I see it. I actually responded to your post...lol. Do you know what kind of runtime you are getting with the 16 tooth pinion? By my calcs, with that pinion, the speed would be similar to a pro4 hd 4300 with 18t pinion which is what I was last running.

Top speed for both of them same ESC settings. LRP 16t 46 and 4300HD 18t 43 and change so yes, they are close. I have run it around my house as hard as I could trying to simulate the track and it got up to 155 degrees. I was hoping to get to the track this week but it's not looking good. The LRP feels a lot stronger but only track times will tell.

You don't need to spend a fortune on electronics to have fun and race on the weekends. You can but Turnigy Trackstar stuff from Hobby King $40-60 ESC, $50 motor and a $32 Servo and keep up with anyone if your a good driver. It's good stuff, fine for the average Joe.

The HobbyWing XeRun 4000kv & 120amp SCT Pro ESC is what most people run. It's $190 for the combo. You'll want a 16, 17 & 18 tooth pinions to have to fine tune.

If you plan on running 10 minute Mains, I'd have a big old 7000mah or better battery. I made a 8 minute main last Saturday, with a 5200mah 50c battery with a 4150kv motor and a 15 tooth. But it slowed down considerably toward the end.

Xcuse me, did not mentioned that.

Dependig on the milliamps the fast drivers took out of their batteries in 6 Min, i don`t believe You can run a 10min race. With a 7500mah Pack You will get maybe 8min. For the race i used shortys with 4600mah, but yesterday i first tryed big ones 7500mah of the same C-Rate, they gave incredible punch to the motor. I will have to reduce the power in the ESC for the next outdoor race (dusty track).

"This is for my race rigs only"
That may be true but I can tell you that a lot of that suff will not last very long and you will be buying it many times. I am a firm believer in the "cry once" mentality. Nobody has to buy the most expensive stuff out there but sometimes it is a case of you get what you pay for. I've tried 3 crappy Turnigy (my opinion) servos in my 410. All three failed in a short period of time. Thats $105 down the drain. I could have bought a Protek 130T and be done with it for $90. I'm not saying everybody will have problems with the Turnigy stuff but I did and I won't go that route again.

Most people do not run Hobbywing. You generalize an awful lot in your posts. In fact, I don't think I have seen a single Hobbywing in any of the 4x4 SCT at my local track, of course I haven't seen them all. The ones I've seen use Tekin, Viper and Orion. I personally only use Tekin ESC's because I like them, they last and Hotwire is great. I'm open to different motors but so far I found the 4300HD and 10L to be my favorite for my Tekno.

Haha now I'm worried about my HW Xerun SCT Pro combo(went with the 4700kv, have a feeling it'll be too much motor for me) I just bought along w/my SCT410.3, I have a Xerun 3.1 in my 2wd SCT, seems to be holding up fine.

I agree. Quality usually costs money. Not always the most expensive, but more often than not, not the cheapest. Don't know how many BH LT4s I've seen go up in smoke, and they are from the same factory as Turnigy.

You have no reason to be concerned, I have the SCT Pro and 4000 kv motor. The motor has been through 3 different 4x4 Sc trucks and the Esc has been through an SCTE, then an EB48 on 4s, an OG SCT410 and now my 410.3. The motor comes off the track at 130-140f during the summer outdoors. I have never thermaled the ESC in any of the above applications. I also have Tekin but it sits in my box as spares just in case. For the record I have thermaled the RX8 and I've seen several Pro4 and Pro4 HD motors fail racing in the same races I run in.

I think what we meant to say was most people in his opinion are running the HW motor, and possibly from a budget perspective. For the money offers a lot of bang for the buck.

From a race perspective I think the other ESCs with HV BECs would be more common. That said, if HW made an ESC for 1/10 SC4x4 with a HV BEC It could turn some heads.

as for the LRP 550 4 pole, I have heard from a few people its very beastly.

I have been using the Hobbywing SCTpro w/ the Hobbywing 4000kv motor since day one in my first gen sct410 w/ absolutley no issues what so ever. I also use Savox servos as well. I have direct wired my servo positive lead to the esc positive lead. I have been running this same setup for at least 3 years now w/ great success. This setup is in about 50 percent of the 4x4 sct in my area. My truck is just as competetive as others w/ electronic packages that cost 2 to 3 times more. No reason what so ever to bag on these products.

I agree with the Hobbywing esc's and motors comments. They are very good for the money and the motors are on par with almost everything out there. Just remember that something has to give to drop the price. Could be marketing expenses, component quality, warranty, quality control etc.

Pretty sure I never said anything bad about them and if you go through my previous posts I stated I like the HW motors.
