Welcome to the SCT410.3 Wiki!

7.26.17 - BB
In order to run the recommended team setup, you need the following optional parts:
TKR6106 Orange LF Springs
TKR6114 Green LF Springs
TKR6018 composite shock caps (built to emulsion) OR TKR8702 Aluminum Emulsion Shock caps
TKR8027 Shock Stand Offs
TKR6051 8x1.3 pistons(drilled to 1.4mm)
TKR8104 .4 bellcranks
TKR8100 .4 ackerman
TKR5545B HRC Hubs
You also need the Aluminum C Block (others can stay composite)

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

TKR5161 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “A” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5163 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “C” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5545B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, SCT.3/SL) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Allows harder acceleration on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6004T (front)
-TKR6017T (rear)

What spare parts should I keep on hand?
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR5516 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5515 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5542 – Spindle Carriers - TKR5541B Spindles
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Use steering stops/limiter washers... more info here.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Hinge Pin Insert Chart:

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

I purchased the blue, was going to run them, but I've already question the way they're designed , not being to screw the lock nut all the way down to the nylon lock..
Thank you,

I guess I'm going to go with the vented aluminum.
The small hole in the side of the aluminum caps is the bleeder hole. To make them vented you will have to drill a small 1.5 hole in the top of the cap, that would put it above the rubber bladder.

Assuming that the 4-pole Reedy Sonic 540 would be fine for this truck. 4300 or 4700 better all around motor (medium sized indoor track)?

I'm thinking of buying the 410.3 and since very few people at my track race 4wd, I'd like to make it a track runner/outdoor basher. Does anyone know if they make a good quality waterproof esc and motor that would work well with this truck? I'm thinking mamba max 2 with a high kv motor? I'd prefer tekin, but they don't do waterproof.

From what I've read so far, you probably want a 550 vs a 540 size motor. 4 pole vs 2 pole for sure!

For a cheap waterproof ESC I've had good luck withteh RC gear stuff from tower. It's a hobbywing knockoff, but the HW program card does not work with it...Get the one with the 4450 4 pole motor, and you'll just need a decent WP servo.

Looking for something a little easier on batteries than a 550 4-pole. lol. Had a Hobbywing 4700 in my last Tekno and liked it but didn't often let it rip. I'm pretty smooth (gentle) on the throttle. Some guys still say the Pro4 4600 is capable in this truck along with the SMC 4500 so I'm sure the 540 4-poles are fine. Guess I'm just getting older and realize that I don't have it like these young studs anymore

Thanks. Is that a 540 or 550? It's to bad they don't make a waterproof setup capable of being sensored. Add sensor wire for indoor track use...remove wire for snow and water bashing.

Not sure, but for $95 for the combo with the 120a ESC (Which fits the esc plate on the tekno's) It's kinda an easy pick for waterproof...I used the 120a for 2 race days with a 1900kv motor, worked great on 4s.

You absolutely do not need a 550 4 pole. I'm going to be blunt, people that are running anything more than a 540 2 pole are running too much motor. I've been pretty annoyed watching/marshalling for 4x4 short course recently because people are simply running too much motor. The guys who are winning are not pulling wheelies....they simply aren't crashing. My son is very fast with his truck and runs a Viper 4500 tuned down to make it driveable. He is very precise with it and rarely makes contact with other drivers.

Who are you going to believe. This guy who clearly knows his stuff...or a guy like myself who just got into the hobby and has absolutely NO idea what he's talking about!

Thanks for the tip on that! I have a 2wd SCT and a 2wd buggy right now. Very few people run 4wd, outside of beginners who are driving 4wd slashes they just received as a christmas present. The owner of the track really doesn't like 4wd SCT vehicles on his track, and there aren't enough of them to make it worth racing them, but I'd like to change that if possible as we're starting to get a few more people with at least "moderate" skill who have 4wd SCT vehicles from Tekno, Team Associated and of course some people with the Traxxas Slash who've made a few upgrades and want to actually practice for a race vs. simply trying to bash everyone on the track.

As for power, I know that the Tekin Gen 3 13.5T was not enough motor for my TLR 22SCT 2.0 for our track. No matter what I did, it either got hot after a few runs OR it would not provide enough power for the straights...all depending on the timing settings I picked in the Gen 2 ESC. Now that could definitely be because of me and my driving skills, but I found the Gen 2 10.5T with the 13mm rotor to be the perfect fit for my needs. Plenty of power and I can run all day long without exceeding 140F. (Anyone want a Gen 3 13.5T with 2 runs on it.

Back to the Tekno, I think it makes more sense to buy the Xmaxx for outdoor bashing (or just use the Axial Yeti XL I already have) and build the Tekno using quality components I can actually use for racing as well as practice...so I'm leaning towards Tekin gear again.

I guess I'll be the guy that disagree's here. While I agree LOTS of guys have WAY to much motor for there skill set if you want to run up front where I race a 540 2pole isn't going to get it done in a Tekno. I'm a smoother/lighter throttle kind of guy myself so I try'd some softer combo's and even with a 550 2pole with the punch turned way up I was getting walked in certain sections and definitly didn't have the bottom end the other guys had. I found a good middle ground that works well for me which is the Hobbywing Xerun 4 pole 4000KV. My 550 2pole was super smooth and easy to drive but just didn't have the grunt I needed to run up front with the fast guys and didn't have that extra power needed when you come off a jump wrong with the nose down and trying to pull out of it..........it simply couldn't do it. Just my opinion on what I try'd as I'm sure the track layout and the guys that run there has a big impact on whats needed to compete.
