7.26.17 - BB In order to run the recommended team setup, you need the following optional parts: TKR6106 Orange LF Springs TKR6114 Green LF Springs TKR6018 composite shock caps (built to emulsion) OR TKR8702 Aluminum Emulsion Shock caps TKR8027 Shock Stand Offs TKR6051 8x1.3 pistons(drilled to 1.4mm) TKR8104 .4 bellcranks TKR8100 .4 ackerman TKR5545B HRC Hubs You also need the Aluminum C Block (others can stay composite) What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit? None are required but we recommend the following: TKR5161 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “A” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes. TKR5163 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “C” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes. TKR5545B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, SCT.3/SL) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Allows harder acceleration on corner exit. TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set TiNi Shock Shafts -TKR6004T (front) -TKR6017T (rear) What spare parts should I keep on hand? Setup Sheets: Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.   Hinge Pin Insert Chart:  Warranty Policy: Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered! Piston Drills: Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following: GMK Supply Piston Drill Set 16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

So will Tekno offer a complete .3 update kit? I'm not a hardcore racer but I like to try to stay up to date on my trucks.

if the front and rear hubs are replaced then the arms will need to be replaced as well due to the new hub length ?
it also appears different rod ends are also used and all the link lengths are different than the original, are the new rod ends needed as well and how would this relate relate to the geometry of the 1st gen towers ?
i can see this being a problem as time goes on and various parts get upgraded and others don't and people saying their trucks are out of whack when they're build assumingly correct.
example.. i'm not willing to replace my carbon towers, but would like the new arms and hubs what are my new link lengths and what locations become the "box stock" starting points ?

But seriously the new geometry provides a more efficient suspension stroke. The new truck's design promotes greater corner speed and better overall suspension performance (lands like its on a pillow).

The new rear arms are 4mm longer. The new hubs are designed to accommodate that. As for the front I'm not sure, but I wouldn't mix and match, because the Tekno design team did the homework and designed this new package to be with out a doubt better. If it wasn't it wouldn't of made it this far in the process.
The rod are different. If memory serves me correctly one set of them is longer than the old ones, but its a stretch to remember I may not be correct. I do know the ends are straight now, but the old ones would still work. Again, if it wasn't better it would have been scrapped in the process.

I say buy new. sell the old model or give it to your kid. if you don't have a kid use it as a loner for the track for a new person.

Maybe I am the only that thinks this, but the biggest advantage this truck brought to the game was the added weight. I never had issues with bumps and I have run on quite a few large rough outdoor tracks. The nose down issue is inherent in just about every 4wd sct. Lighter weight is only going to help on the high traction type tracks coming out of the corners. If the tires are spinning, it's not going to help much. I have been running Tyler Herwigs setup from the ROAR Nats for over a year and the truck has been great if people are looking for ideas on shocks and diffs.

Partially true. The weight reduction in the drivetrain components is not a simple add weight change. This does really affect the power delivery and with the high powered motors today, lighter in the drive train is not always better when it comes to being usable.

for the me the kicker on the V1 was that out here, areas of the track guys could punch it on consistently over jumps, Iwould get a bad nose down situation, and the truck didn't feel consistent on traction relative to what I did for nose down attitude.
However, I will say I don't get to race much, so my tuning time comes in these windows with the track being over 1.5 hrs away.
This year though should be interesting as the guy who cleaned up last year now has tekno vehicles
