Apparently, many fellow R/Cers use this Simple Green product. It is mostly unknown in Europe, so I went check the website. It does contain water, alcohol, a buffer and a chelating agent. Looks safe (I'm chemist).
I thought water wasn't a good idea, for the bearings and the steel parts, but if many of you use it with satisfaction I will look for something similar (instead of nasty solvents).

Stiff bristle large brush to knock off all the dirt.
Isopropyl alcohol (leaves no residue and usually evaporates faster than I can get to it) and toothbrush then air compressor.
Lightly spray with SC1 and then air compressor again!
Looks like new!!!
