People say the MMP & 3800 kv 1410 motor isn't any good for a heavy 4x4 sct why isn't it?. is it because its a 4pole motor set up?,is it because its a castle system? they say it clogs, they say its not smooth enough, the 3800 kv 1410 is a 3mm shaft and a 540 motor. Now lets say what people aren't saysing about the castle MMP and the 1410 3800 kv motor system
1 the MMP esc can be ran either sensored or sensoredles
2 the 1410 3800 kv motor is a 3mm shaft 550 sized motor put into a 540 sized motor can.
3 the MMP esc can be adjusted with the castle link.
4 you can buy mod1 3mm pinion gears from hpi.

Just a few examples nobody is saying, just as long as you keep the temps down below 180 degress (which can be done with pinion gears) you can run all day long with no issues, but you will need to run a lipo's with a higher c rating 60 or better to power a heavy 4x4 sct.
I am still running the MMP & 3800 kv motor system in my losi scte have been for a number of years now with no problems what so ever and yes its being raced. So with that being said mine is only an opinion of what has worked for me,do some checking around and find out what system will work for you with the money you got to spend.

1. 4 Pole is better in SCT.
2. castle link requires taking your computer to the track.
3. Castle 1410 is a 5mm shaft, not 3mm.
4. 540 can is not larger than 550 can.

I have not seen the Castle setup compete with the Tekin and Hobbywing/Tenshock combo at all. The 3800kv motor is not going to hang with the 4600's. I don't personally think Castle is all that great for racing. I'm going to assume that he plans to race, because he picked up an SCT410 which is arguably the best 4x4 SCT on any track.

The old Castle 1410 motors have a 3mm shaft. I believe the newer version is a 5mm shaft.. This would not be my first choice for a motor, as it runs hot if one has too high of a pinion gear with 2S.

The MMP can be used as sensores or sensorless, but if you have the castle motor it will not matter as it is sensorless. I have had (still have) both and I offered my opinion. The castle system is by no means a slouch, but its just not at the same level as some other brands FOR RACING... For bashing, go castle all day long as it will be hard to find a motor that will take abuse like a castle and the price is decent too, but for about the price of a MMP and castle motor you can get a hobbywing esc and tenshock and possibly still have a few bucks left over.

There are plenty of other combos out there as well, but the best advice I can give is if this is for racing, go to the track you will race at the most and ask what most people are using and why. If many people are using a certain combo it will be much easier to get help on setups and compete on a more level playing field.

The Hobbywing XErun 4 pole 4700kv motor has been great in my tekno. Tons of power and the price is hard to beat.

if you buy hobbwing setup, make sure it has programming card in combo as well. You are gonna need it for adjustability.
