Default rb s5 engine

Hi ¡¡¡
I want to buy a new engine, i have no more than 200.00 , actually i´m running a Kanai II with a few upgrades and a os rz engine, i´m very happy with this engine but i want to try another engine.
which one of this:
s7
s5
c5
rg

please leave your comments about this engines, actually i´m looking for something with low end than top speed, i will race a national in Aguascalientes Mexico and the track have to many curves
and with the rz engine takes to long to reach the top speed..
Thanks in advance
Said <------------ sounds weird but this is my name

If you don't need top end speed than the OS RG is probably the best choice on that list. The C5 is too much power for most and the S5 and S7 are known for smoothness but not strong low end.
Get the RG and an 086 pipe and enjoy power for little cash.

or the new 3 port Nova rossi (.21bf) for $179. that is a strong motor for the money.

Good call Buggyman. The Collari B3 is a good one too..
Both will be a little stronger than the RG all across the powerband.

Fenix, don't get caught up in the idea that more ports means more power. The OS V-Spec and all of Os' offroad engines for that matter are 3 port engines. There are very few engines that can outrun a V-Spec in any kind of race.

The Rz is good for a few thousand more rpm's. It doesn't compare to a Collari B7 or a Vspec for top end but I think that to beat an RG for value an engine has to be a LOT faster. An RG costs $115us and the next least expensive engine costs $200+. To go a lot faster will cost $260-$325. I own a Collari B7 but when I race with my trusty RG I wonder why my B7 and other engines cost so much.

there are a handful of manufacturers that can lay claim to being very reliable and RB concepts is one of them. pick up an S5 if you're racing on short to medium length tracks. if on long tracks, get the S7. the S7 is a little pipe and clutch sensitive, it likes to engage later to get good bottom end snap. check http://www.rbproducts.com/cgi-bin/ub...ultimatebb.cgi for info on the RB's. the C5 is WAY more power than you will need to start out with.

i just bought an RB s5 and installed it in my buggy. this thing is impossible to start!!! i was barely able to get the engine to start for the first tank of fuel. now, it won't fire at all for the second tank! not to mention locking up at TDC after every 2 bumps!!! arrggghhh!!! i don't know what to do! these things are soooo picky!

It's not picky, the pinch is really tight when new. Try rotating the fly wheel a few times before you fire it up on the starter box.

thanks for the advice. i did loosen the glow plug a little before i started, that did help to unstick the piston, but it didn't help to start the engine.

i think the problem might be the glow driver. this is because after i gave it a good charge, the engine fired right up!! however, the battery only lasted 10 min i think it may be time to replace the battery in it.

i say get the RG. i have one in my Hyper 7 and it screams!

Macnkitty The RB's are great engines and when new can be a little tight. You should always make it a habbit to pre heat your new engines. Heat them to at least 200* before you start them or any engine and they will start much easier. I usually pre heat them durning breakin all the way up too a gallon of fuel. Doing this will cause less wear & tear durning breakin as well.

Tighten the glow plug back up and preheat the engine with a hairdryer or a heat gun. That's the way to go.
