Default How to keep dirt from sticking to tires?

Sometimes when I hit up the track it will still be a little damp yet from the rain, which usually ends up with my treads being clogged with clay/mud. Once it gets on there it's like a snowball effect and traction really goes out the window.

I've read of some people saying Simple Green before hand can help, but my experience has been the opposite. SG seems to make the tire attract more dirt.

Not sure you can inless you use tires like Barcodes or AKA Vector tires they wont cog on a wet track nearly as much as smooth treaded tires like Ions, Typos .

I always clean my tires with simple green and it makes no difference in the situation you describe.

liquid wrench works well to keep the dirt/mud off of tires.

I was using Proline Tazers. Good for a nice hard packed driving line but if you get off to the sides the pick up all the loose stuff.

I've since picked up a better arsenal of tires this winter with bigger lugs like JC Crossbows and PL Bow Ties. I'll try some of those when the track is wet and see if they work better.

RC Phreak, when you say Liquid Wrench do you mean the silicone spray? I've got a bottle of that stuff and was thinking about using it... works good on my snowblower chute

You're in WI. It's December, we're not getting a whole lot of RAIN here. There isn't a track in the state racing outside now. What are you prepping early..LOL

I don't have an issue with simple green, I make sure I dry them well with my towel but other than that nothing special

This thread lol dirt will stick to tires, its only a matter on if you have deep tread, and if the track was just watered. Other then that its in gods hands

Hold the car in the air, and yank on the throttle.

I asked this same question myself previously and I was told to go to a small pin tire where it does not have the ability to cake as much. So it will clog but be carrying much less weight than a large pin tire, and with some spinning of the tires can often self clean.

Maybe a different tire for this type of track?
