Hey guys, I'm an admitted AE fanboy, but have been paying attention to this thread and checking out the Yok's since the Maifield rumor started a couple months ago. Awesome product it seems. Tough luck in the final round for Mans, especially over something so small, yet important. Do yall think there will be a revision in the works to do away with the e-clip, similar to the V2 shock shafts that AE uses?

I would not be surprised if RM has holes drilled in his shock shafts and tapped before his next race at Smactrack in three weeks. It was a really freak thing that e-clip fell off but with any racing you try to improve on something that got you in the past to avoid it in the future.

My guess is Yokomo will address this in the future but will not be something you see until a future release in a year or two. Just a guess.

Can't say that I've ever seen a YZ-2 on dirt with a front sway bar, so it's not priority for that type of racing. Rear sway bars are more common, but mainly on high grip conditions. On lower or medium grip dirt surfaces you really need more flex in those cases to enhance traction.

I have a B5M with the upgraded Kasmina(?) shocks and shafts, I'll see if they fit the Yokomo bodies next time I have them both apart. Something tells me RM may have already tried it today.

It's not common at all to be honest. He'll either finder better e-clips or Yokomo will update the shafts.

If this is the biggest obstacle he has to overcome, good times are in the future.

Gonna go out on a whim and say whomever built that shock, either did not seat the E-clip fully or the E-clip was warped before and it was not bent back for a proper SNAP on its groove.

The very same can and has happened with internally threaded shock shafts. I know, it happened to me a JConcepts Supercup A-main a couple years back where I was on fire (I rarely lead in the A's) and way in the lead until my front end suddenly dove way down and the car started pulling hard to the right. I was so far ahead and just under 2 minutes to go and I ran it like that for another 2 or so laps before I was caught up so rather than hold their race up I pulled it off track.

I used Blue Loctite on all my shocks but for whatever reason that one screw didn't maintain it's hold. It's Murphy's law. Simply put… ShizNizzle happens.

If they do swap to the threaded system Im confident they'll release them to the public as option parts first before including them as standard parts in the next kit.

That was one of the things I noticed when building the shocks with the machined 1.6 and 1.7 pistons, the e-clips were hard to get seated properly. You had to really pay attention and clamp down on the e-clips from all sides to be sure it was correct. If you just snapped them on and built the shock, there is a good chance they were not seated all the way. A lot of this had to do with how tight the kit shimming was with the piston. Next time I'll reshim it.

I've also ran this one, with no issues:

https://www.mibosport.com/aluminum-s...abasavox-servo

Amain carries it as well, but both places are out of stock so best to just go with clamping one.

If you get in a bind I have a whole bag of plastic ones as well, I can help you out as a fellow Yoko does.

That was the first thing I thought of when they said his e-clip came off, how much of a pain in the ass it is to make sure they are properly seated.
