Only the original YZ-2 has a different chassis, CA and DT use the same.

Also, what other parts are needed to convert it to DT?
Quite a few things...
Ball diff

Gear cover
Motor plate

Some of the steering parts like ackerman plates are also different on the YZ-2 DT.

Thanks. I know the earlier chassis needs a hole drilled in it. I heard there was a kit to drill the hole, but couldn't find it anywhere. Would like to find it vs paying another 85 bucks

I'm running the original Yz2 with the latest 3 gear transmission and feel it's on point. The new car does have some variances here and there but they're minor. I've also driven the DT car at my local track and feel it's every bit as fast as any car you can buy. We run on slicks with high bite and both cars can be made to go fast.

AMain is the U.S. distributor. Absolute Hobbyz seems to have a few parts from time to time.

People also order from Japan and Europe.

Europe:

Michal at MiboSport is incredibly helpful: https://www.mibosport.com/

Tonisport is also very good: http://www.fast-webshop.com/tonisport

Japan:

Race and Drift Japan ship quickly: http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/

Banzai hobbies sometimes has stuff: http://banzaihobby.com/

Hope that helps.

Lots of XRay dirt editions in the for sale forums. I've seen one DT for sale used. I know that doesn't take sample size and user into account but my assessment is that the DT is just so damn good nobody's selling theirs used . I'm a massive fan of mine.

I got both! running gullwing arms on carpet. CA feels a little quicker out of the corners. but in no way is the org yz2 4 gear a slouch! Handling wise same to me point and shoot!

I drove the XRay cae this past weekend, it's decent, but a bit numb steering wise compaired to the YZ-2. I wouldn't want to pay those prices for parts, and the guy also broke a rear aluminum suspension hanger, and a new one is 31.99???? Ouch.. it's a known bad part that breaks as well.

I don't think so. At least not from Yokomo. But, if I may ask, why do you need a smaller one? Is the available gearing range not big enough for you?
