one other battery to consider that I am tempted here to try as the season gets closer are the VANT 7600mah lipos but sold by promatch as you get a 1 year warranty on them for $59.99 last time I checked.

are the pro 4 that bad on mah??? i run a 4.5 550 and do 10min race with 5000. i know the 4 pole would use more power at same size but it has more efficiency (most of it's power get put to the ground instead of try to get to speed like a 2 pole)... + a 550 is bigger and has more weight. if i was you i would get a timer(or someone to time you) to see what your lap times are and see how long it drives. then lower the power!!!! you see that you might have faster lap time with less power and you have longer run times (i find most the time if you give yourself the power just to make the jump you make up you speed/lap time in the turn + it could help you not over jump) you spend less time trying to slow down more time at speed. also you will note if you can curve you power with esc or controller or finger you will spin less and get longer run/lap times. it's worth the try!!!!

You guys use pretty big packs...why? Is the weight not a concern?

I have noticed SMC batteries tend to swell.

Honestly a heavy car is a stable car. Also more mah means more power if you figure out the calculation. You need to take into consideration the discharge curve. Normally higher mah packs will allow you to maintain higher power output for longer than the smaller mah packs.

In my opinion the IP batteries, 7000mah and up and PROTEC which are also IP's held up much better than any other for me. They also have better power throughout an A Main length race. SMC's were good, but one came ballooned and the other was the same way after 1 race day. I have a 7200 80c IP that is 2 years old and still looks and performes great. As for capacity, a 5600 will only make it about 5:30 for me before I hit voltage cutoff. No good it you are running 8 minute A Mains
