hi all, I got one of these cutbacks as well, I haven't even driven it except swapping it with a used set of traxxas tires and just trying it on the street for a minute to see the speed, I was not impressed at all, it was slow, I had a 2S SMC 40C 5000 lipo in it with the stock gearing.

I did change out all the turnbuckles to Traxxas slash 4x4 ones and they fit nicely with some adjustments by twisting the links, I changed then all out including the steering servo arm one.

So the one poster that changed the spur and 15T pinion, was the speed increase by a lot? I wonder how the temps of the motor and ESC be with the pinion and spur change? I don't even know if I should keep this for my son, or sell it and get something else, I just like to tinker with stuff and its still sitting in the box with the turnbuckle mod done. not sure what I want to do with it.

That was me.... I have yet to run the truck in anything above about 35 degrees outside so I have no worried about temps... In addition I am running the body up as high as I can get it... hopefully this helps with airflow.

Speed increase? Dramatic!!! 15t pinion I had laying around with the 54t spur. I may go down a tooth because it is almost too fast running across my couple acre yard.

I maxed out the preload on the front shocks and I am letting the butt sag which helped the jumping issue.

Running 17/54 and no heat issues everything is still cool to touch.....and so you tried the preload in the front and soften the rear did it really help the jumping problem I have added weights to the rear and still nose diving and holding in my hand the rear is heavier balancing on my hand the rear falls back but still nose diving lol got the aluminum motor mount ordered as the one on the truck is pretty hefty if u ask me

looking forward to hearing more. Even heard someone joking that at the price shown, you could do a spec cutback class lol.

Default 20 Pack update

I've beaten the snot out of this on our very hard packed track. My buddy has a slash lcg with GTR shocks and sway bars as a comparison. I swapped to a 13/62 and like the gearing for our track. Still tops out quickly.

Servo lost all hope today. It has taken big hits, but it just stopped turning the truck well. I swapped in one I had here (a much higher end one) and it's the best it's been. I decided to drop my Castle Sct 540/mmp in because it's kit less. More punch than the stock and a little better control.

I took apart the diffs and there was grease in them that's gone to the sides and doing nothing. I put in 7k /F/ 10k /C/ and 5k /R/. Need to run it.

Got rid of stock shocks altogether and put on Team Associated SC10 4x4 big bore shocks. Jumps a bit better.

Basically, at this point, sway bars are needed but it will run with or best the Slash all day long. Still no Tekno, and I'd like to change the toe and camber.

relegate,

buy a set of slash 4x4 turnbuckles and swap them out with the plastic ones in the cutback, easy and relatively cheap mod for a set of adjustable turnbuckles, I got my slash 4x4 set from ebay for under $10 shipped.

still haven't driven my cutback yet!

I did that swap on my Exo (anyone interested in one?!) and need to check out Ebay or Dollar Hobbies and grab some. Thanks for the reminder!

Why haven't you driven it yet?

The Cutback is cool. Honestly, if I didn't have stuff sitting around to put on it, I would have kept it stock and just upped the shock oil weight. I'm very happy not slamming my Tekno everyday anymore... I've gotten that back to track queen status with the addition of the Cutback. I have 2 blitz ESE's that might never be run again as well. 2wd on a prepped track is cool, but I'm a sucker for the 4wd.

Stock body position in the front is too low and the tires bottom out on it.
