Default TLR22 Ackerman vs B4 Ackerman

Both cars side to side I see the B4 has more steering lock and less Ackerman than the TLR22 1.0, the setup station I have isn't for 1/10th buggy so I can't say how many degrees difference it is. Eyeballing I would say it's something like 5 degrees. I'm making a prototype piece to give less Ackerman on the 22 and it will give a tiny bit more steering lock because the rack is 1mm away from touching the servo horn when steering to the right, the 2.0 rack hasn't this issue. This makes even more difficult if you maxed out EPA!
Tomorrow will report back with the findings. Keep in mind my 22 is dialed but the only thing it could be better is steering feel, it feels lazy and unconnected.

Don't blame you. Sounds like a great idea to try.

Or you could get one if the new belcrank systems that tlr has for the tlr 22 series.

Thanks for your interest. First prototypes are good, really easy and quick to make but I did a mistake and the ball stud was too much backward but other than that all went good.
As I said previously about loss of steering lock in reality was too much, I lost about a foot of turning radius even with EPA and D/R maxed out. 22's outer wheel and B4 outer wheel are almost the same angle, but 22's Ackerman is close to nothing. I need to make a new hole 5mm away from the stock hole and test again.
About driving, tight U turns are very difficult to do, steering speed is as slow as before and a little toe out bump steer. Then I tried on a larger track and I was surprised, the buggy reacted as fast as before, but I felt it needed less servo travel to do so, on sweepers it felt stable and composed and on a particular hook there's before the straight it was were I felt the most change.
The stock Ackerman is most felt on the say, first third of servo travel and then the steering fades away quickly. With the new Ackerman, I felt it strongly after the first third of servo travel onwards, I was driving with less turning because steering reaction was the same but the front commanded instead of nudging the rear to the other side. This on outdoor dirt track.
Driving in tarmac to simulate high traction I felt the need to have more steering lock but it is less violent and it's apparent when will happen the most steering/prevent the front hooking.

Hope it helps someone, any more questions please ask.

Panda, I want the bell crank since I've seen it, if what I did is somewhat close to them I will rush out to get them!

Update, 5mm away from the stock hole has clearance problems, it doesn't clear the screw head and the spindle so I recommend to start at least 6mm away from the stock hole(V1 had 10mm away which is too much IMO). You just need use a sheet of paper to test fit then place on top of the final material and copy. I used 2mm thick plastic sheet from a drawer or organizer can't remember.

V2 tested today.
All went better than expected. The new hole is made in a way that if using a lock nut to secure the ball stud it touches the spindle, it's around 6mm away from stock hole. Linkages seem straight.
Actual testing went better, the car had sufficient steering lock to make the tightest corner and made minced meat of medium to large corners. I didn't reset toe and it really showed as the car lacked turn-in and had too much on-power steering. I increased corner entry speed and the 22 took it well seemed to grab mid corner sometimes.
Tomorrow I'm going to another track that's 1/8th oriented and very open see if anything needs improvement.
*edit*Morning test cut short because of a small stone in the pinion, did 2 laps and felt different, calmer and had to make less corrections without steering loss. I'm going back to the track.

Well fresh from the track and I can say there's an improvement from stock Ackerman. Feels more natural and tracks less them ruts and surface imperfections. If anyone tried this mod please report back.

Second week running this mod, I managed to get more steering out of it by using exponential.

Tested on another track, way more lively than stock Ackerman. I'm getting the bell cranks to test against my mod because I'm not going back to stock Ackerman ever.
