So I ordered mine through my LHS on Wednesday, although I'm really not sure when it will arrive. I'm pretty stoked to be getting back into ST. I've got the electronics for it ready to install. My question though is this; are there any upgrades that would be a requirement? I would rather just build it once with the required upgrades than wait till I start breaking stuff. Stuff that sticks out to me are turnbuckles and MAYBE the J Concepts steering rack. I'll probably pick up the aluminum shock mounts just because they look better and are cheap(ish)..

Do you have a scale? Would like to know the difference in the alum. shock bushings vs. steel nut and plastic bushing. Can't be much, but that is up very high on the vehicle.

Minimum weight by roar rules is 1700 grams.

Edit: wow I was late!

Nothing else really. All the stuff is bling for the most part.

Yeah, I have to find out what lengths work, but when I tried to shorten up the upper front link the rods were so tight in the ends that they would pop off the balls when trying to adjust, I think they were starting to bottom out. I wonder if I will be needing a longer set too for trying longer links.

I think weight loss will be best accomplished with the following parts:

X Factory Infinity chassis
Lightened motor plate
MIP Pucks
Lunsford front axles
Titanium upper screw kit
Slipper eliminator
Lunsford turnbuckles (as much for durability as weight)
Lunsford shock mounts

Should be close to 150g in weight savings right there.

It's not too bad, but definately a pain when trying to do track side changes. It's more parts to keep track of. Same thing going on with my 8th scale. Have to carry two lengths of front camber links.

The SLRC chassis is also an option. Don't forget Ti axles both front and rear. Then you'll have the 3 gear option as well. Ti ball studs and hinge pins wI'll also help.

Thankfully I'm pretty much over 17.5 at this point, so my truck will stay fairly stock and will get a trinity brick (square) pack.

Pretty sure all of the lite weight options for the T5M should start coming out soon

I'm not playing the lightweight game again after playing it with my B5M. I'm only adding upgrades that give me more tuning options. Alum rear hubs, schelle rear camber mount, and the alum C rear brace. I probably end up getting Ti turnbuckles at some point.

Yeah, I dont mind carrying 2 different sets of ends, but I am not a fan of the open ball cups that are garbage to begin with. All of mine were tight at first now they are falling off when I try to adjust the rods. Right now I would be happier with Traxxas style ball ends on this truck right now. I am considering putting TC6 ball studs on it with RPM ball cups.

Sucks to hear that.

Two months ago I bought a 2nd B5M off a buddy. I thought it had the binding ball cups. Well it kinda did. They were really dirty...and sorta binding. I think he had the car less than a year.

So I checked the ball cups on the RM car I converted to MM which was a first arrival B5. But the ball cups were not binding and only rear two inner were dirty from tire sauce and burning rubber. LOL.

We've only raced indoor tracks though.
