Why?! I bought a simaliar axle as an option part for my Firebolt, and I like it much better than the original version with the plastic hex. You can tighten your wheel nut without having bearing issues. The B4 generation AE hex wheel front axles with the c-clip were really bad, thank goodness JConcepts came out with their version.

Are you referring to wheel hexes? (confused)

Can you guys clarify if I can run my present t4.2 hexed rears wheels on the t5m? Assuming that they are still 12mm hexes?

Yes, the t4 hexes are 12mm, but the center hole is 3/16. The t5 axle is 5mm.

12mm is the diameter of the hex, 8.5/5/4mm is just the width. Yes, T4.2 wheels will fit.

PS. Thanks to all for your clear responses to my queries.

Right, onto the slipper upgrade and the relative merits of each and WHY?

Easy to install and adjust, very tunable by mixing red and white slipper pads, does not heat up like the VTS. I prefer the Triad Evolution over the Schelle Nova as you don't need the conical washers. If you want to use them, they are still included

Yes, I dont like the conical washers either. They always want to escape from my pit bench. less small parts is better.
