If you have a shop nearbye, the gearbox bearings are pretty rough, if you can get the schelle oiled ceramic bearings. If not that should be an upgrade to order soon.

Otherwise a great build and a great truck! 2000% better than the T4.1!

Buy a good degreaser, pop the bearing covers off, and degrease the kit bearings and they'll be nearly as good. You could fill a jar of Vaseline with the amount of grease in the kit bearings.

I recommend the 3gear tranny too.

If it's loose than 4gear would probably be best.

Has anyone tried a Hobbywing v10 17.5 in their T5m? I'm looking for a new stadium truck motor and considering the HW v10 or the Reedy M3. I'm pretty sure the Reedy will be a good choice, but am wondering if the slightly less expensive HW would perform as well.

Anyone try one or both of these?

Other options are Schurr, Savox, Tekin Gen3 or even LRP, but I'm leaning towards the Reedy M3 or the HW.

I run stock class with my hw v10 17.5/ v3.1 esc and love it. Smooth! Easily programmed !

Is anyone else experiencing a little play between the front axle and caster block? I have like 0.5mm to 1mm of play.? Shim it? New blocks? Spacer problems?

Thanks

If you're talking about the steering block inserts wiggling: a lot of people just glue them. If they want adjust trail they'll pay a couple $$ for a new pair of steering blocks + inserts.

Sorry I mean the screw and axle where the front bearings are? Little play. Like the screw is too long? Not sure yet.

That's an issue with the plastic rear hinge pin blocks. The Aluminum/Brass upgrades fix this problem. A quick fix is a shim or two and you'll be good to go.

I am currently running the recommended gearing for a 8.5 motor per the instruction manual in my truck, I however have changed the tranny from the 4-gear to a 3-gear, and still running the same gearing, should it be different for a 3-gear or remain the same.

Same gearing for both.

Anyone have an area to start. T5m, hw ss v3.1 17.5, 78/27 wasn't in the ballpark for a local SoCal track Sdrc. Maybe 72/30? Any ideas thank you!

I run a 75/27 or 28 for both OCRC and SDRC with my Schuur Speed 17.5
