Haha, my LHS has completely stopped carrying the rear motor kits a few months ago. All we have is B5M kits.

I suppose if someone really wants a rear motor T5, they can just use the B5R chassis and misc. parts. The only difference is the wheelbase would be shortened about 8mm, going by the spec sheet.

My thinking is the chassis is a little longer therefore a slightly higher rear weight percentage can be achieved just by moving the battery all the way back and the bigger, wider truck tires create more traction than in the buggy so the MM was the only version AE thought was necessary. The B5 vs B5M sales probably had a big part in it too but we can only speculate on that.

But it will be heavier for the 17.5 class. Imo ST and SC should be 13.5 stock. Making them run 17.5 is just mean.
Yeah we just started a 13.5 superstock class for ST to run alongside our open class. The 13.5 is more than enough power and its a really fun and competitive class.

Since a bunch of guys I run with have converted to MM with the X-Factory and Centro kits, I am really noticing just how much tail happy my T4.2 is...when trying to keep up with a MM going into a corner I have to either back off and take a different line or I lose the end trying to keep up and spin out.

Locally (San Jose) rear motor buggy is pretty dead...There are a few here and there but almost everyone is running mis motor...I bought the B5R when it came out and put the MM conversion on it as soon as it was available.

I think the world of 2wd is moving to Mid Motor, I don't really fault Team Associated for focusing on that market...I Imagine that the Factory Team T4.2 is going to still be sold as the rear motor alternative if you really want it.

Live RC just posted a short interview with Kody, that should answer all the questions for the next month.

Ha! keyboard cowboys will second guess the engineering and decisions AE makes until they're blue in the face.

Heres a list of all the new parts for the T5M:

http://www.teamassociated.com/news/l..._70001_T5M_Kit

Presumably everything else is shared with the B5M

So kinda like the Durango gearbox then?
Cool!

I wouls assume the truck will use the same wheels as the T4.2, but not positive.
Yep, no wheels BUT has aluminum top shaft and rear camber block. So I am calling it a win/win. I don't mind buying wheels when I don't have to buy upgrades right away.

thats cool, just wanted to confirm.

I am surprised that 2wd stadium isn't popular out here for at least outdoor with one of the tracks being 1/8 and really rough. They do run 1/10 buggy if there is turnout but seems it would work better you know?

But I am watching this with some interest, curious though if the QC on the vehicles will be better than what I am hearing about the buggies.

Take a peek here!
I have the PDF but the file is too big.

Yeah not sure as to why they aren't popular. Handle the bumps much better than a buggy any day and just as much fun if not more fun in my opinion!

the QC on the buggys is low, but not the performance and durability. AE resolved the customer QC issues

I believe it does. If you look through the parts section of the T5m page, it lists the T4 turnbuckles
