One of my buddies just ran with the nitros with his tekno et48. Tekin rx8 v2 2250kv v2 and smc 6500mah 4s. We made a battery swap at 19mins. I swapped his battery in 25secs. He won with a 2 lap lead over 2nd place. The motor after 30min was 170 on a big outdoor track. The nitro guys say it takes about 10 secs for a pit stop so we had 5 sec on them for pits. That's not going to change a 2 lap lead.

How did you manage to change a battery that fast? Velcro on body?

I'm sure you could do it no problem with the right motor/lipo combo. The Tekin 1700kv Truggy motor paired with a good lipo (6500mah).

Promatchracing just came out with a 4S lipo rated at 7600mah. Wow. I'll bet even with my 2000kv motor I could get 30 minutes with that battery.

No velcro. Body clips. You just have to be on your game I just went very fast. 25 secs is longer then you think. I could have done it faster with some practice.

I could barely make 15min with 2x2s promatch 7600mah batteries in my dex408t w/2000kv motor, heck, I even had my current limit down to 30%. I don't drift corners and I don't punch the throttle, I'm very smooth on throttle..... I wish I could get as much run time as some of you guys.....

Our guy with an identical setup and smilar protek packs had to pit at 17 min , had about a lap lead , but started thermaling like crazy for the rest of the race.

That's a long "pull" on any system. Gearing would have to be spot on and the driver would have to be smart while driving. It can be done with battery swaps. I did this and did a 45 minute main with 3 battery stops and had to pit every 9 minutes to be "Fair" regardless of my total stop time...

We used Deans connected batteries and a conservatively geared 2000kv on 4s. The fan should be installed on the esc.

From what I understand, a low kv motor (ie:1400) and a 6S lipo is much more efficient.

Guys are saying that they easily getting 20 min with a 3500Mah lipo....in your case I would think with a 4500-5000mah, 30 min. would be possible.

That doesn't seem like much for those lipos. I can get that same amount of run time from my old Promatch 5800mah 4S.

I don't think you should have to stop every 9 mins. If your pit stop takes longer and then you have the chance of losing your groove while in the pit longer. The only difference is flame outs. Electrics don't have the issue. That's the only advantage I see over running with the nitros.

I an not a racer, just a speed basher and very light basher and my XRAY 808e with CC 2200kv and MM2 with a Gens Ace 5s 5000mah 60C with 17T pinion last about 30minutes of continuous runs till LVC acts in. Never hit termal shutdown!

Very pleased!

Last year we were running 15min mains and anyone with less than 7000mah struggled to make 15. This year we run 10min, so it's a non issue. Even with my e buggy, I would struggle to make 15min with my CRC 5300mah packs. For instance, the past Friday I did 2min of warm ups, finished the main (10min) and only had enough battery for 2 more laps. Granted I didn't crash once or need to get marshalled.
