Default Novak 5800 thermal shutdown

I have been racing with the Novak system since November and am very happy with it. It seems to be thermalling more easily lately (it never did before). It has shut down a couple of times in the past after 10+ minutes of straight running but last wednesday it shut down two laps after a 5 minute qualifier and then after 4:50 into the main.
Transmission is so free running that it turns when I blow on the tires (without the motor in).
Anybody else found that their system is running hotter with age?

Being to loose might be the problem, if the diff is to loose the motor is having to work very hard and in the process making alot more heat. You might want to also look at the new speed control from Novak (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...JXT0&P=ML)that has drag brake and also can be used with brushed motors.

Everything on the car and the speed control is in perfect working order. The diff isn't slipping (it wheelies) and the transmission is supper free spinning.
I have sent an email to Novak describing the problem so maybe they'll have some insight.
I would love to get that new system, I just don't know what I'll do with all that power!

I'm having zero problems with the one in my truck so it's probably a venting problem (truck bodies allow for much more airflow). Just never had a proble before.
Squirrel, turn on the dang A/C at the track!

Do you mean de-magnatizing?
It still makes great power, I can't tell it from new.
Is that a problem that you've seen on these before?

I can vouch for bad sensor/sensor wires causing over heating, even though it seems to be running ok. Did you run it after you vented the body? Mine gets fairly hot, but I've never had it shut down (in the buggy), even after running 10+ minutes.

I second turning the damn AC on!

Yep, I vented the body and the problem is solved for the time being.

if you are having a problem again. try running a small fan and mount it ontop of the heatsink of the esc.
