HEY GUYS, need to know how you all check for a air leak. i have a os .12tr slide carb that intermitantly will run lean on the track, go to a parking lot truck runs great tank after tank, race offroad-flame out. i have changed fuel tank, fuel line from tank to engine. I have sealed the back plate, carb and high side needle. i have noticed alot of oil at the crankshaft bearing.

Man I've changed rear bearings in os engines b/c they leaked so much and I thought they were giving me an air leak. With everything you did I'd change the bearing too. Seems to me os is developing a rep lately as much for their carbs as for their bearings.

Anyhow you'll have to do your fine tuning at the track. Running on a parking lot is much different than the track. Best bet is to take it to the track on a non race day and tune it in or see if you have problems. When on the track you're using more low end generally than top end. Whereas in the parking lot you get into the higher rpms more and longer. And the engine gets more air flow b/c of the above.

Also maybe check the manifold gasket to see if it's still in good condition.

And lastly change the glow plug. os #8 always work for me, but I've never had a tr either.

i plan on racing this sunday and hopefully i can figure this out sunday at phesant run. i also have gotten some sealant that is better than rtv that i will use to seal it up. if if does not work i will be looking for a new motor. i wish i would have went with fantom motor, i have read and saw alot of good things. the motor is wicked fast but it is easier to go slower than it is to try to keep it running.

I agree that OS is getting a bad rep when it comes to bearings leaking. I have two buddies that run the OS .18TM in their REVO and both have very bad front bearing leaks also. You can fix the Rear bearing leak by sealing up the backplate. When it comes to the front bearing there is no fix but a new bearing. Send it back to OS I am sure they have been receiving a lot.

Man I thought I recognized your name. I must've heard it before at the P. Run. I would like to make it this weekend with my 1/8 think I'll have to pass. Been working 6-7 days last three weeks and getting old. Be racing sat at saginaw and sunday gonna sleep all day.

hi normally front bearing goes quickly.... take off front bearing and hold it up to the light and you may be able to see light thru the bearing seal.....
