Jason did a YouTube video on this, you can search for it on YouTube or google. He says that with the larger rims you get less walking around and is better for high bite tracks as opposed to the smaller rims where you get some more cushion for bumps. The newer rims are easier and take less glue.
It all comes down to preference and availability. Also with such a small difference I am sure t would be hard to tell the difference but then again I haven't tried them, just going off what I've read and heard.

If it's the Front wheels actually for me i could tell a difrence the 2.4 wheels and tires smoothed the steering out more side bite . The 2.2 Fronts more steering feel and turn in better on bumps .
2.2 rears and 2.4 only difference I could tell with them is the 2.2 have more side bite/ handle bumps stay glued better .
2.4 rears are lighter traction wise to me it's less but still grip good bad on bumps though and stating glued but I fixed that issue .

The 2.4s are for smoother tracks. That's really what they are designed for. When the track is smooth they work great. The only issue that I've seen with them is the side walls ripping/tearing on high bite surfaces. They are also about 10 grams lighter per wheel/tire.

Whats the preference on battery for this car? Square pack or shorty ?

I would definitely go with a shorty. If you happen to go with a low rider trans it will work with that as well. Also with the shorty you can position it forward to improve weight distribution as well as being lighter. Many companies have them cheap including SMC, dinogylipos and plenty more.
New to the buggy world, having a t5m though the b5m seems like what I will want when the time comes to get one.
Thanks for all the good info in this thread!

Welcome and I would keep an eye on the for sale section, there are a lot of complete and already modded out B5Ms for a good price.

Silly question, but if I mix 25 wt oil and 30 wt oil 50:50, will it be 27.5 wt oil? I have both and want to try 27.5.

There was somewhere on here ( RCTech, not this thread) that had a link to a site that would tell you how to mix what with what to get a desired weight. Try google. Thats about all I can offer.

Ish... math wise yes, viscosity wise not so easy. You can try it and see if you like the desired result, or just buy a $3 bottle.

Are you supposed to grease the dog bones on the diff side? The manual didn't mention it. Seems like some lube would be beneficial but I could also see it attracting dirt and causing a problem.

Not necessary as it will attract dirt. Should spin freely without any lube.
