Then you'd better not go shopping for a Yokomo YZ-2 ($350), Kyosho RB6 ($399), TLR 22 3.0 ($330), Schumacher KF2 ($335), or the new AE buggy...

As grip comes up (sugared outdoor tracks, and better clay indoor tracks, maybe even some carpet here in SoCal opening up) the demand will be there. Probably not right away, but by mid year I think it will be out. Unless there is a huge shift back to blown out, roosting type dirt.

As I stated all along… It's only a matter of time before a laydown variant or upgrade kit is released.

I should invest in a crystal ball. LOL

Of course not. this way they move more "upgraded" product now and then later when sales plateau on the Champion Edition the Laydon Variant will be released. It's smart business, though sucks for those who are awaiting the Laydown specifically.

I grew tired of the wait and scooped up 2 YZ-2's (one NIB) with a bunch of extras, motors, Rx's & spares for less than 2 B5M Lite kits so I'm a happy camper right now. Still wouldn't mind trying an Associated Laydown though.

Your crystal ball would be wrong - because laydown "kits" are already available. You can even pick between 4 gear and 3 gear kits.

The horse is dead - please stop beating it.

our sugared bluegroove goes wet for 4 months or more this time of year. we've got weird sticky dirt. My 4wd SC throws a nice roost. Its fun but cleaning the cars can be a drag.....in 17.5 tires last for months though. By late spring we'll need that lay down tranny when the track warms up....people still race outdoors on real dirt.

I don't know about the USA but in Europe and Asia a lay down would sell like hot cakes, big chocolate chip fudge brownie hot cakes.

AE has never been overly interested in the Europe and Asia scene. The let CML and the locals make mods like the C4 and etc. Maybe that will change, but that has not been the history.

@RCBudda yup a low motor transmission is probably on the way, in the middle of development. Probably why the championship edition is limited and comes with a few extras not needed. Gets them off their shelves faster to make way for something coming.

Yeah they do use prototype cars especially at big races. Just wish they released them sooner. Reminds me of my first wheeler, b44. Tebo won 2007 worlds with it and like a month later it was available. At that time you could get a ft b4 for under $200. No thanks to companies shooting up prices and selling well. Since then others did the same, but not by much, at least not enough to be ripped off. No one complained, not when $30-40 increase is eclypsed by a $450 2wd buggy.

So on the LiveRC interview with Brent Thielke, he says:

===================

AW: Will the original Team Kit still be available once the Championship Edition hits the shelves?
BT: No, the Team Kit is being replaced by the Champions Edition. We will continue to offer the B5M Factory Lite, however, because it provides a great value - especially for the stock-class driver looking to get down to the 1500g weight limit for the class.

AW: Thank you so much for the interview! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
BT: Yeah, this is a limited production kit. When they’re gone, they’re gone. We timed this car to be released in advance of the holidays so the racers will have the perfect platform for their 2016 race season.

===================

So, the Team Kit is going away, and then the Champions Edition is going away, so then they'll be left with the FL and... something new???
