the front springs have wide coils like the Kyosho truck fronts. In this picture it actually looks like they are using kyosho springs. notice the gold paint at the top of the spring

The white shrink tube is pushed to the inside of the spring (towards the tower).

yeah, people were pointing out the gold paint at the top of the passenger rear spring. Anyway, it looks like they have some new springs. The front are taller with wider coils and the rears "appear" to have wider coils also. This is what has sparked the conversation.

If you put out a 5lb truck on springs designed for a 3lb car... these are just spring options for the load.

I have no opinion on AE's business model, I don't care.

That said, when they're available on AE's site, buy them. If you hesitate, they will disappear quick. If you think about it, they have a TON of team drivers nation wide to fulfil orders from, and the "rest" get put out publicly.

yeah, people want to "preorder" them and use coupon codes. You pay a premium price to get some cool stuff first. Socket has no problem paying that price, which is fine. Personally, I will wait. We all have that choice. But if you are buying the latest and greatest from AE's site, you need to be on the ball, as they dont have preorders.

my main interest is in the new shafts and pistons. The gold looks cool but I like the getting rid of the clips on the pistons. i would settle for the old bodies with the new shafts and pistons.

Yes. the only thing that isn't interchangeable is the new pistons with old shafts and new shafts with old pistons.

Without browsing the 14,000 posts in this thread, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of running an inline setup?
