well of course you prefer MM, lol. The problem with RCtech, is that most of the users either race on groomed indoor tracks with good traction or they race 8th scale cars. Some people actually run their 2wd electric cars outdoors on the same tracks as the 8th scales. Also, if you live somewhere with wind and race on a watered track, the track can drastically change in a very short time. and in those cases, it is all about the RM. But, yes for you, I would agree. I run indoor med to high bite well groomed tracks and the MM car just has a better feel. IMO, if you are going to travel a lot to a variety of tracks, have 2 cars. Cav, maifield and those guys all race on groomed tracks with good consistent bite. Of course MM always works for them.

we have some guys up here who were more in the 5th - 6th place in A mains on outdoor 1/8th style tracks then switched to mm car and with a little setup help were either the fastest car out or top 2... The car is not just for indoor but you do need to learn to set it up for outdoor. I know my setup isn't for everyone but works great for me.. also seemed to work for a few other guys up in my area. but rm may work better for you in your area.. guess you just need to drive what makes you feel more comfortable on the track. for me its mm everywhere...

my point was the RM car is "easier" to drive and dial in. In one of the interviews the AE engineers referred to the MM car as a car for advanced drivers. Yeah, someone who can tune and dial a car in fast will probably be fine anywhere. Most people on this forum are not that guy. And If you want a set and forget it car, the Rm is the car to get. If you love to tune, read the track changes and put a lot of effort in, the mm is probably fine. I have spent months getting my car "right", I am 100% certain that if I drove down to tucson and dropped it on the track with only a tire change the car would be a complete turd that does donuts. Where as my RM car uses the same setup everywhere. every track, all I need is a tire change. Is the RM "optimal" everywhere, nope. But it is still easy to drive. And sometimes easy to drive is just faster.

Still running 8th scale primarily, just need something to run in the winter so picked up the b5m. What speed is typical for these buggies, .08?

Yeah, I think .08 is good, the Savox 1257 is like .07, but I have mine slowed down a tad.

Did pretty good with mine tonight, been getting the car and myself more dialed every race day. Qualified 1st for the B-main, won the B-main and made the bump up to the A-main, finished 3rd in the A-main. I'm pretty happy, I can see some improvement every race which is good.

What exactly is better about the b5r? I'm also running a b4.1 that i feel is pretty dialed and pretty much works good everywhere. It is starting to show its age and is getting pretty sloppy, just wondering what to expect with the b5. Does it feel faster? More consistant? Both?

+1 on that. Could even go closer to 200mm. I run the R10, and Reedy sensor wire under the battery. I ran it out of the back port under the solder tabs. You have to bend it a tad but it looks great once installed.

I was curious what foams everyone was running on your front gold bar code tires for indoor clay. For example on my 22, I liked the stock foams in the front on my rear motor 22 but red aka foams on my mid motor 22. I wanted some feedback before I glued up my new tires.

Thanks,

the b5 is easier to drive, easier to work on and will break less.

the b5 rm jumps better, less twitch and feels very planted compared to the b4. And durability is way way way up

Thanks,
We run mostly Blue Bar Codes, but I like the stock foams in the front and AKA in the rear.
