yeah, I love how we have a A to E main here in stock. But I will probably be spending more and more time in mod. Granted I will be running mild mod motors, lol. Probably a 10.5 to 13.5, but I get tired are trying to find power all over the time. We have some good local mod guys and I will never win, lol. But I wont win stock either. So I might as well just have fun and run mod.

What shims are you guys using on your top shafts and diffs? I added an MIP top shaft last night and not I have about .25-.5mm of play on the top shaft. Diff was about the same. If you have a part number or even the size, that would be great.

don't be discouraged on stock... as 99% of the country you will be fine running a stock car in stock class... only a few places in socal and a couple others where they have huge amounts of faster drivers would you maybe need to worry about a few lightweight items.

And no you don't need a super light car to race stock... at the stock nats hartson won and the next couple guys basically ran stock mm cars.

granted some course designs might better suit a lighter drivetrain... but being able to carry corner speed and setup will get you to the winners circle much faster then putting all kinds of light weight parts on.

practice and learn to set up your car to how you like.. because what people post on here and say works.. may work for them at their track.. but not for you at your track as dirt and tracks and driving styles differ .

Its all about fun. I suck at mod but good at stock. I like running both anyway. 13.5 boosted is my favorite motor setup.

yeah this weekend we have a race with a 13.5 non boosted class. I plan to run my MM in that class and my rm in 17.5. After this weekend, I will probably just focus on Mod with my 13.5 in my MM car.

thats weird I put a MIP topshaft in my MM RM and my brothers RM and none of them had play.

at last nights club race Tommy Hinz ran his RM in mod and tore it up on a high grip clay track (SRS) I talked to him and he said they are both great and he doesn't think one out performs the other its just how you drive them. In fact he turned his fastest time ever there with his RM car

My MM is a converted RM. If at any point i give up on MM, I will just convert it back.

i didn't completely give up on MM actually I like how it drives, if I ever get good enough for mod i will run a mm again. Hopefully by next spring im there and ill pick up a factory team mm But for now in stock the extra snappy resonse I get with the RM from dropping so much weight and an extra idler gear is too much to pass up. So while i like how the mm drove the rm is just better (for me) in stock.

yeah, your not the first local guy to come to that conclusion for themselves. For now, MM is my project car. If I can ever get the jumping sorted out, I will probably like it. I have a setup on my RM car that I really like and it is pretty much a set it and forget it car for now. It just needs the "right" tire combo. I am hoping to "tune" the MM car more and see if I can get it where i like it. It might just take time getting used to it after 20+ years of RM cars.

A few people have been called out and caught in the last few months and stopped showing up. Taking winds out of the motor isnt what they were doing. We actually have a motor checker that can tell just about anything you want to know about a motor without taking it apart.

Nice. Good to know. I have not been to a "big" race in several years. How will the tech process work? I assume they are allowing the 13mm torque rotors. Or can your machine check that also?

There was a guy there last wednesday in 17.5. A light blue car, not chance, but same color. lol, I could hear that thing spool up. I highly doubt it was truly a 17.5. He was some older ish guy. Well older than me and I am 43.
