Cool. Glad to hear manufacturers are doing that. I usually see the guys at the LHS get the latest and greatest ESC's. Didn't really do much research before posting that.

I'm not sold on the 3 gear, our layout got tweaked and grip was down, 3 gear was miserable. I was also testing a D4 short stack, and I definitely did not hit the sweet spot yet, my R1 was much faster.

What are the numbers on the short stack? What gearing are you at?

I got uncertified with the torque rotor, I haven't checked it on the meter yet. I tried my standard 32/69 *50 and 60 timing, dropped down to 31/72 *55 and it was better, but that was a much time I had to test it.

Here is some video that was posted from the Mod amain last night at Warehouse 3. We run slicks on this track. The jumps section in the middle is not straight. It is on a slight curve. The triple was put in because the mod guys wanted big air, lol. BTW, races are won or lost in that section of the track.

I thought the 3 gear was only expected to be good for very high grip?

The Mod guys have not really gone with the 3 gear locally, it is mainly stock guys for now. With the lower power from stock, traction is less of an issue. Plus we run on higher bite. I plan to have my maiden 3 gear run this weekend. The track I run on has plenty of rear grip. So I have rear grip to spare.

I dont think it was "big air" that would have been nice, just a more flowing, faster track that isn't catered to just 17.5, which the new lay out still is for the most part. The triple is not that hard to make, but it literally turns in mid air so the margin for error is incredibly small. Wish they would have made it a straight jump.

I was doing it with my wheeler. lol, in fact that section was much easier with my wheeler. It ate my lunch in stock. Plus people crash in there. And if you get caught behind a pile up, your screwed. Try to dodge cars you cant see and marshals is fail. I had a good run last weekend, then lap traffic in that section ended an otherwise good run.

Yeah its a bummer too, with my schedule for the next 4 months w3 race days would fit, but I'm just not a fan of the tracks they build. If they ditched the speed bumps in the 180 before the triple it would be a better track imo.

Guess you need a new body for the 3 gear since you have to chop off the other side...

At our track we run a 13.5 class with carpet tires (ie. Proline pin points/wedges) on Ozite carpet resulting in very high grip. We have very small jumps. Thinking the 3 gear might be worth a shot. Any thoughts?

most people are just chopping the other side of a body. but you can get a new on if you like. I would try it. Pretty cheap to try.
