I run the Airtronics MX-Sport and love it. It's under $100. I have an HW Justock in my old JRX2. It's a good little esc but I'd only take it down to about a 13.5T motor offroad. It has no timing adjustment of course but it's a good little esc. I run the HW V2 60A in other cars. It has worked great for me. I've never seen a need to pay more but am curious to try a Reventon Pro in my B44.1.

I agree on your electronics. But people on these forums are name brand fool with more money than sense, lol. I have tried just about every major esc maker and the HW esc's are very good and maybe the best. The mx-v is a very good radio. Many locals have tried it and like it. Those red turnigy motors are hauling butt locally. the lhs started carrying them and they sell like hot cakes. I also use the solar d770 servos. I bought 3 over a year ago and ran them in everything from 2wd buggy to 4x4 sct and no failures, but they didnt have great toque for a scte, lol.

nothing really wrong with that setup for mod buggy. if you already have a spekrum radio, look into the orange receivers. your radio can handle more than model right?

And it's still cheaper than a set of golf clubs.

agree, I love my hobbywing stuff, however I wouldn't go any cheaper than that. There's mostly tekins in at the tracks I run at. And when I first started and asked about the stuff they said it was good and they have great support. Thats good and all but I'd rather never have to find out about the companies support if I don't have too(I personally have 3 tekins esc's and have used their support). Personally, I recommend you try what you think is best, and see what you like.
