I started the build and went straight for the transmission build first.

It went together flawlessly; the plastic parts are top notch (great job Team Associated) very solid feel when the screws are fully torqued. The only thing is I receive a rough batch of out drives. They are a little funky/corroded looking, but they work fine.

ok, one of my issues with MM in the past was temps. I am running 38 deg timing on my reedy 17.5 mach2 72/31 gearing in rear motor and it run 145. I cant afford to gain another 20 degrees because of cooling and weight issues. I really want to try the MM, but motor temps in 17.5 have me concerned.

it might be gearing issues for track size. i run schuurspeed 17.5s in b4.2 and b5m. i was at about 135 in b5m and 125 in b4.2 but the b5m had 1 tooth less since that is all i had. 31/72 in b4,2 and 30/72 in b5m. it was a small indoor high bite track. i usually run 32/72 with 40 degrees timing at my home track,i will run the both there tonight and see what the temps are.

Soooo... Am I the only one that is having the rear end want to slide around on them pretty bad on hairpins / 180 turns? The cars feels like it has potential, and while it's not bad, it's not great either. I just cannot push it is hard as I want to drive it. It feels fairly edgy. I've tried a couple different spring and oils combinations in the rear, and I can get it a little better, but not great. Any ideas? I'm at the point where I might need to move on from the car if I cannot get it better within another week or two. I've driven my friend's Serpent mid motor, and its feels the way I think my B5m should. It just drives easier, handles the corners way better, and it's just a nice kit with a few features the B5m doesn't have, for only $40 more. I'd like to get this B5m dialed like everyone else is claiming they have theirs. Kind of confused at this point. My buddy who is a mechanical engineer and quite good with tuning cars is a little stumped how to help at this point. Both of us agree the car just feels edgy to drive and my car hooks consistently on sharp corners. Starting to bum me out.

If I try to run 40 deg of timing on ANY track I will get into the 170's.

@Rigor what kind of track? Maybe the wrong rear tires? And the right tires for the serpent, might not be the right tires for the B5M. Any other B5Ms having the same issues locally?

Rigor

Takes time to learn how to tune a mid motor, B5 had plenty of grip. 4 months for me so be patient and learn all the tricks to gain more traction .

I saw that a while ago. It does not seem like that would be true. I am sure Danny did his best to make it a fair test, but I think a variable is missing. I think Danny has also said that bird cage connectors are better.

On my way into the office. I'll give further details once I get there. I am lucky enough to be in OC and see a lot of pro drivers at OCRC regularly.

Default loose rear end

May sound kind of simple, but make sure you don't have to much drag brake. My b5m with box set-up has been really good from the first run.

If you race OCRC why not chat it up with hartson. maybe have him take your car for a spin to give you feedback.

Have you tried Kody's OCRC setup? You have the engineer for the car racing there, I would definitely tap into that knowledge.

Rigar,

Ask Walnuts or Hartson for set up help, OCRC should be pretty locked in but if it was on the new track layout it wont be as locked in as it normally is.

I ran my car for the first time this last weekend at JBRL and my car pushed like a dump truck because my tires where new and not broken in. I borrowed a set from a buddy that had broken in foam and the car was way better without any set up changes.

I ended up running white k springs all around with 32.5 in the front and 30 wt ae oil and 1.6 piston front and back. Ride height was 23.5 f and 23 r car was good and with a little more time I will be used to it.

So, anyone that drove this can on an outdoor track?

I'm still not sure what to buy, a B5 or a B5M..
Almost all the tracks in my country are astro or carpet. only my local track is hardpacked dirt (with a thin layer of dust in the summer) + there are some parts that are carpet/astro.

Any suggestions wich car would be the best?
