I have been going back and forth on the MM vs RM. I talked to a few locals and even sponsored guys. They feel the RM is a better choice in 17.5. The 3 gear is more efficient and more cooling for the motors. Since 17.5 normally run warmish. Added to that, the rm car is quite a bit lighter. This is even for higher bite tracks where mod runs mm. Discuss.

I drove a mid motor b5 with the wrong tires and book setup and it was obviously really good if it had the right tires. Sigh.

With the lack of power, I'd have to say 17.5. IT had ribbed tires, but it still turned

lol, nice. I am sure it will "work" in mm for 17.5, just is it ideal? Apparently the nearish local indoor track (w3 2.5 hours drive), pretty much everyone in the 17.5 amain is RM. And I am told they are pretty much all B5 RM's, lol. That setup up above for Humpty is from that track.

Have any of you had your kits come with silver shocks. I thought they were going to be green like all of the FT shocks for the last 20+ years.

Leigh correct me if I'm wrong but I just noticed his pistons say 1.5T. Does the T mean TAPERED? I never even noticed. Son of a........!

I have both kits sitting on my table. Rear motor is built minus the shocks and is already fully dressed in Factory Team stuff (just because)... mid motor will be built tomorrow probably. I can almost guarantee that I'll be on mid motor everywhere, even low bite. It's much easier to throttle drive for forward bite than it is to search for steering and balance.

The real question is will either of these kits ever see a track....I've lost pretty much all motivation to run them

So where on earth did you come up with they run the same track?

Coming soon I hope? My RM kit was missing some hub inserts.

Hope the production alloy rear hubs have the option for the set screw to eliminate slop.. didn't look like Thielke's had them

I have just been running it the way the manual instructed and it has been fine, but I wondered about this too. I have heard discussion of running less slipper with 17.5...

Damn these serrated wheel nuts. Glued up a set hole shots on DE wheels. Must have taken them to tight. Pretty much stripped the inside part of the wheel out. I'm going to say 95% my fault, 5% DE fault. There wheels seems to be a lot softer then many of brands.

Just to add to the list of QC issues, I saw a B5M today with one drive shaft too big to go the diff slot. Then again, it could be the diff being too small for the drive shaft. I sure hope AE is going to ensure better QC for the 2nd batch.

If it says 3 pad they are usually referring to the VTS (could be avid as well but it should state that). 2 pad refers to the older slipper setup, V2 style.
