Just a thought maybe your gear mesh is off. Check to see if your pinion is smashed up against your spur gear

They are on eternal backorder. I got 1 set from AE the week the rear motor was released. I have the 3/0 on my mid and the 2.5/2 on my rear.

There is the correct amount of play in the mesh, I'm pretty stumped where the noise is coming from especially when the diff is smooth.

I wanted to try the 3 0 set up but I have the alum mounts but no inserts. I was not paying attention when I ordered them. I assumed they came with the inserts. Who has ever heard of buying a block and not being about to use it.

I built both of my b5m kits with the alum. Steering rack. The best way to do it is put the 3mm screw in from the alum so the button head is against the aluminum. This will require a longer screw. Then us a 3mm lock nut against the bearings so you don't get and bind in the bearings. No loctite needed.

I bet it is from the end of your pinion rubbing against the gear cover.
Try this... take the gear cover off, try and see if sound goes away and you have free play. If so, forget about getting a full mesh to your spur gear and mount your pinion on the motor a little bit more in, like 3/4 engagement or 1/2 engagement to your spur and then mount your cover again. Check and see once again.

I will try that, thank you.

Hi All!

Thanks for the answers to the questions I had asked a couple of days ago! It helps greatly!

I was hoping to pick up a B5m as soon as they are back in stock, but my wife nixed that idea! She said I can't get a new car until I sell one of my unused ones. Makes sense and she's the boss (even though I manage the finances ).

If anyone knows of someone that is interested in an MBX6R or a Recoil, please point them to these threads and help me get my B5m faster!

For Sale: SportWerks 1/4 Recoil

For Sale: Used Mugen Seiki MBX6R USA edition

Thanks!

Because when you wear out or want to replace a $1 piece you would have to spend $20.
