Bob (designer of the B5), included the O-rings to keep the turnbuckles horizontal and as far away from the shock as possible. In some trail/ ackerman configurations the turnbuckle can be fairly close to the shock, so this is just an effort to ensure it doesn't.

It isn't required, as long as you are mindful of the turnbuckles distance to the shock at full-steer.

Remember that the outer steering ball cup is bent. If it twists / droops, it won't provide the intended clearance. The o ring keeps that from happening, cheaply, and simply.

Bench test wise do the shocks feel noticeably smoother with the new orings?

Yep I was standing right next to Cav watching. He said something about durability testing. Lol. Car looked good though.

The car is beef. We took a few hard tumbles in the same place i crashed my 4.2 and broke. The b5 crashed and kept going. The rear hubs are huge. With the box stock set up the car feels good , jumps way better than my 4.2 did. Seems like this cars has alot of on power steering compared to any rear motor car i have driven.

Spend your money on tires and track time...
yup, there is nothing else there to make you any faster, one of the designers said that himself.

Good strategy. My B4.1 is still dialed. So I will be waiting for the FT B5m.

the FT kit will be a few months down the road. They want to see if anything needs to be modified / strengthened. I would not be surprised if you don't see a FT kit until next fall winter. Figure they need 3-5 months of solid running to see what needs to be changed, then test it and run it at the Nationals over the summer. Then time to do the advertising, new manual, packaging, etc.

That's fine with me. I will run the hell out of the team cars and replace the parts with the FT parts as they come in. By the time the FT kits come out, I'll be ready for new cars anyway.

I drove one yesterday and my impression is that it has the 'B4 steering' combined with the 'RB6 stability'. It's not as locked in as my 22 2.0 was, but it's definitely more locked in than my 4.2. I sent it in deep on a lot of turns to see how it would react and it was solid. Also had a few tumbles because I pushed it hard. Never broke or got out of shape.

Very excited to get mine (hopefully this week!)

I don't think it will. The chassis is significantly different. I have a uncut bulldog I can check, but it won't be close.

Few of the AE guys around here have been using the Centro body until their B5 bodies are painted. Pretty close fit.
