Built the b5m factory lite running a trinity d4 short stack 17.5 motor. Im currently geared at 69spur and 32 pinion. Temps on motor are coming off close to 180. Not sure what to do. Can is set at timing 50. Dont want to go down a tooth cause i dont like the feel of the car. Suggestions? And is there a way to place a fan on the motor. Seems like the center brace would be in the way for a fan
With a weaker short stack, I'd stay at 29/69 or 30/72 with timing cranked to 60. Yes, run a fan...there was a layout at srs that loved taller gearing, and had two large straight aways and a big sweeper connecting them. I could run 33/69 there and run very cool.
The R1 wurks 8.4v fan is the best out there.

32/69 is tall gearing for that motor.

What Motor fan setup is everyone liking and running? Seems like a lot of the info on here was about talking about which ones were available but what have people decided that they like?
Also 5.3-5.5 FDR the ticket for the Fantom IonV5 17.5 short stack?

the short stack is high rev'er and likes shorter gearing with lots of timing. i'm currently running mine at 31/72 with 60 degrees of timing and it feels great.

On that track, RM cars will rule. I would never run a MM car on such a loose track.
Back to the B5M.

I was referring to the cars and the track. I said nothing about driving skill. I dont assault other drivers skills.

This car is really good on carpet! No complaints, wouldn't really change anything.

Double side sticky tape battery?
I have a new reedy slim that I'm putting in my b5m and as some of you may know that with the battery strap you either have to use foam or cut a notch is chassis brace so I cut a notch and installed it but it still moves. So I was wondering if sticky tape is a good idea to hold the battery in thanks... And I have long charge leads so no need for it to come out all the time

I highly recommend the scotch clear 5 lbs clear tape. I tried the 10lbs black and the pack was a pain to get out. way too much effort. The clear offers more shock absorption and holds really well. Just do like Matt said and clean both surfaces and warm up the tape and surfaces with a hair dryer. once you get the pack in, it is nice to put foam on top of the pack and put the strap in. leave it over night like this. it puts pressure down on the packs and tape to help if bond better.
lastly, to assist in the pack not working its way loose, I mount something in front of the pack. I use the cap mounted to the chassis right in front of the packs. That seems to really help. I ran my car like this for months without having to replace the tape.
