That's what I had to do when I added the alum steering rack.

Considering a lay down from shapeways for my b5m FL. Before I do tho, curious how a b5m with a lay down stacks up against the new b6. Is the b6 noticeably better than the b5m? Or does a dialed in b5m with lay down contend well against the new car? Considering I run same power plant (17.5) setup in each chassis, does one out perform the other?

My opinion is for 99% of racers it really doesn't matter.

I have both... B5M Lite and B6. The only advantage the B6 has is in the corners. Now, I run the B6 with laydown and gear diff and the XB2 carpet edition on clay med/high traction track. Both are fast in the corners and easy to drive. (when setup right to your driving style)

Hey guys,

I own a B5R myself and have to do a little maintenance to the shocks, but I'm a little bit confused.

I have not upgraded the shocks in any way, they're completely box stock.

Wanted to buy the #91615 and #91619 Shock Shafts (V2), TiN, but Asso states they're for the Kashima shocks and are not compatible with the E-clip shafts.
What does that mean? Is there any difference in the Kashima shocks except the coating to the stock shock bodies?

If #91615 und #91619 fit the stock bodies, do I need new pistons or what does the term 'These screw-mounted shafts are not compatible with our E-clip shafts.' mean?

Also I want to upgrade to the X-rings - does #91495 '12mm V2 X-Ring Rebuild Kit' fit the stock bodies?

I hope you guys can help me with this issue

If I were you I would get the following to upgrade your stock shocks:

91495 X-Ring rebuild kit
91305 (X2) Ti_Nitride shock shafts Rear
91306 (X2) Ti_Nitride shock shafts Front

You're set!

Thank you very much, Chris

Didn't see #91305 and #91306 in the parts list for the B5, so thanks again for pointing me that direction.

Order is placed

I would do a YZ2 gearbox before the shapeways. Its a bit more work but alot better quality.
Are you running on clay or turf/carpet?.

Also, if you run the YZ-2 gearbox, you can use the YZ2 shock tower and B6 arms to run the shocks in front

After spending all this on a new gearbox diff arms and tower might as well just move up to a b6 imo. It is designed to be able to better run at the lower ride heights needed if you are running carpet and turf. On clay the laydown route is best put into the b6d since it is an 25.00 upgrade.

Gearbox conversion is aboit 60 bucks, front mounted shocks are not really needed on all but
the highest grip tracks, 60 bucks is a long way from 310.

4 gear is a little more stable and offer a little more on power traction
3 gear is more directive on brake/off power, and more handy on jumps

What is the yz2 conversion? I did the shapeways conversion and it's ok, but would prefer something that feels a little more solid . . .

Thanks everyone for your input and information. I should have mentioned in the initial post, but im running on high bite clay. I believe the yz2 conversion is the gearbox from the Yokomo yz2, as well as its motor plate....could be wrong.
I think if i do end up converting the car to a laydown, ill go yokomo for quality sake.
