Cool, thanks! Going to glue the front in now that I've decided the 4mm works for me.

TRIPPLE check they are in right first... once that glue touches, they aren't coming out.

On my B5R, I just put a bead around the insert rim and snapped them in, lol. But I guess I should really be putting them in, test-fitting the axle, and then putting a small seal around the seam?

put in place, seal with glue

OTHERWISE, they just might not snap in just right and your axles will not spin smoothly again.

ask me how I know...

Thanks. Just did my 3rd day on the car and 7th battery. Holy crap, Reedy 17.5 short stack, HW v3.1 stock spec, and Pro-match shorty and this thing rips pretty good. I know it's not as fast as what you guys are running, but it's more than enough to be club level competitive.

Or at least it would if we can get the driver up to club-level competitive...

So the purpose of gluing the front trailing inserts is to prevent slop?

Right. I also used the "hard" parts as they made the front end feel more precise.

Correct, if the slop doesn't bother you I wouldn't mess with it. It bothered me so I put a little dab of CA on the edge and bam no more slop.

Exactly. It's also a great way to remove slop that may have developed over time. I didn't glue mine immediately, but I eventually used glue after i noticed slop starting to develop in that area.

I did have a question regarding setup. I am going to try 2mm of trailing for my front axles. The manual does a great job of explaining ackerman and wheelbase changes with the trailing axle chart. It doesn't mention if the caster block needs to be spaced differently tho. Any help here? I see where stock gets the 2mm spacer to the rear with 4mm of trailing, but I am confused because if I reverse the axle inserts for 2mm trail and place the spacer in front of the caster block, what did I really gain?

Okay i need some help. purchased a nice used stock b5 buggy and a new b5m conversion kit for it and the 5 upper shaft bearings are 2 big in dia. to fit the upper shaft holes. i ordered all new upper crap for the m and its the same size as the5 case parts. however it all has different part numbers ( bearings, shaft and spacer. was there a batch of buggies that were released with wrong parts?

Early B5 buggies had a different topshaft and bearings, it was a running change made about a year ago. Not sure if the transmission case changed as well. I'm still running the old one in my B5.

Just an FYI if you use the hard parts on the front end, don't hit anything as they explode. Seen it first hand. Hard parts equal parts flying on impact, quite impressive!
