If the thrust bearing is working properly, it will make no difference.

Question #2 what are pro / cons of ball diff vs gear diff in the B5? I have both and will be running on med to low bite indoor dirt track and was curious what weight oil would be a good starting point to use in the gear diff? if it is a good option?
Thanks,
Thanks,
This is pretty simple Eric. For diff fluid in the gear diff, I would tell you not to worry. The ball diff will be immensely better in those conditions, and be the best option. It's also lower maintenance.
i'm not sure if there are driving differences...but i prefer ball diffs because they are easy to make quick adjustments. but i'd say ball diffs require more maintenance (buying new balls, sanding the plates, etc) and cost than a gear diff. gear diffs are solid though. once you find the right fluid...they are tough and last a long time!!
when i say gear diffs are less maintenance, i mean once they are setup up...you don't have to mess with them for a while. but to get to the gear diff and make adjustments is a lot more work than adjusting a ball diff
i run on a small medium/loose track and after the initial setting on the ball diff...i had to tighten it up a little after running a little while and it's perfect! since i switched to a ball diff years ago, i'll probably never go back (unless it's for a basher)
