Yeah thats a good idea but I would have to reinstall the old hubs. That was going to be my last resort. Was hoping someone knew the setup. AE didn't even know when I called.

I've been out of racing for about a year and decided I'd get back into it with a new build, but I can't decide on whether to get a B5 or B5M and I don't want to get both of them. I plan to race mod buggy on a small clay indoor track with tight turns and medium-to-high grip. I've had every version of RC10 since the original gold tub chassis and I tend to throw my buggies around the track so I'm leaning towards the B5, but B5M's have been selling like hotcakes at the local track this week. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Get the b5m its a fantastic car. If you can't get it dialed in you can get the ae conversion kit to make it the rear motor car.

You want 3mm shim under the ballstud on the aluminum hub, back row, up to you whether inside or outside hole.

Based upon recent setup sheets and photos, Both Hartson and Jarosz are running with a 3mm shim on the hub, and my understanding is that provides the same height as top row standard hub insert.

I'll stick to a small dab of diff lube on each gear!

worst lube you can choose, in just one pack the clear turns it into black guke in-between teeth.

A oil will out perform.

All about heat & pressure .

Difficult to find a lube that works because of the loads these gears perform under.

Understanding what happens when you use clear is important though.

Agreed. I see more people have stripped idler gears because they use either the clear diff lube or black grease that comes in kits on the tranny gears both of which harden and cake between the teeth. Best lube I have used for years is this stuff from Amain

Clean....

Personally clean all the gears after a dozen runs.

Mark each gear with Sharpie so you always reassemble the same each time.

LOL - well, it probably helps that his Dad works in the aerospace industry...

Here it is for $150 for 2oz if anyone wants to put the most expensive lube possible in their gearbox.
