The b4.2 shock shafts are slightly smaller diameter 2.8mm, iirc. The b5 has actual 3mm shafts. The turnbuckles are the same though.

Really, thats the first ive heard of that. Thats what the sponsored guys at my local track are running because the stock steel shafts are showing wear after only a few runs.

I ordered these...they say they're 3mm

I really like that new proline B5 body. I am pretty sure I will be ordering one for my B5M as soon as I get it.

Your right! Now that I think about it, I was talking to some usvta drivers, not ROAR vta.

They will work, they will allow seepage & air leaks. Remember everyone up in arms about the bb shocks leaking air into them when they 1st came out? You will have the same problem. Just bleed them each heat & you'll be ok.

I wouldnt switch from the polished shafts if you paid me. We have been polishing ours for years now, so the fact that AE did it for me, is perfect. Also the coating wears off and is useless eventually.

So, this sounds obvious and I'm not sure if I should post this on the b44.2 or b4.2 thread, but should these shock shafts be used to replace the original stock shock shafts that came with the kit on either the b44.2 or even the b4.2, as they're a true 3mm rather than the old 2.8 or 2.9mm and leaked air?

thanks,

So is the consensus to stick with the shock shaft's that came in the kit or use the gold coated ones? If so what is the advantages/disadvantages??

Thanks

Use the ones that come in the kit, why use inferior shafts? Yeah they are gold, but they will leak and suck in air creating inconsistencies. AE will more than likely be coming out with a 3mm gold shaft in the future, then you can bling out your b5.

Sorry about my ignorance, but im new to the hobby. When i bleed my shocks do i unscrew the bleed screw while the car is on the stand or do i unscrew the bleed screw then compress like when i change the shock oil.
By the way, thanks for the tips and help.

Thanks!

Did anyone notice how close the inside of the rear hubs were to the rim of the wheel??
It might just be me but it was only 1mm maybe less, I run the Avid Satelitte wheel. Seems like there is a possibility for major rubbing.
