So has the team been running practice at SCRC with the B5 and B5m?

I'm not a fan of aluminum chassis either (well, you don't sound like a fan of them anyway). One way to potentially build flex in would be to cut some thinner graphite chassis. We have a guy up here that does chassis so maybe I'll figure out a way to start a little new company for that kind of thing

yeah, I am not a huge alum chassis fan either. they get tore up easily and most club racer never realize their issues are a tweaked chassis.

I prefer good old carbon fiber. They can be as flimsy or as stiff as you need them to be with add on reinforcing ribs. I've got a pin router and make my own chassis. Using the bolt on B5 front nose plate would make that easy.

are you going to mount the sidepods with the cf, or go completely custom? CF get tore up on my track. Lots of rocks in the dirt. last week a fist sized rock made its way on the straight away.

Prefer the stiffer alloy because mid motor is designed for high traction .

If you need more grip using the rear motor car is the better solution .

I generally go completely custom on my cars. If they get torn up I'll just go back into the garage to make another! I generally tear more things up in the street at home than I do at a track. It'll be a while before I pick up a B5. I'm still working on my 210 which I know you hate!!! The funny thing is that by the time I'm done with it, it'll probably be the car they should have always built since I've changed quite a bit.

yeah, the 210 is the least favorite 2wd that I have owned. I go back and forth on the rm vs mm. I am unsure which I will get first to do a shoot out with my current fav 2wd buggy.

I hear you WC. I'm just saying three flex chassis could be made - one that is the stock flex but couldn't bend or tweak like al does, a stiffer one, and a more flexy one. And I am starting out with the RM but pretty sure I'll get both for next year.

The funny thing about that car (210) is that I came to the conclusion a while back that for anything other than blinky mode that in rear motor a saddle configuration centered on the chassis was nice and in mid motor a saddle configuration against the motor was best. AE comes out with these cars and proves that I was on to something except they effectively turned the side by side saddle configuration by 90 degrees in RM mode. I couldn't make the car handle the way I wanted it to with a shorty and the car is already so heavy that if I had to use a long stick pack, I couldn't get the weight where I wanted it. I don't like the chassis with bolt on sides and it's thousand screws which clearly AE doesn't like either. AE has taken what I like about the 210 and integrated it into a better laid out car and chassis design. I still personally prefer to run 3 gear in MM mode and if I can't get the car to work run 3 gear RM. I just don't like MM4 so I'm a bit torn on which B5 as a result.

What is with the steering links on both cars? The o-ring to prop up the swept forward outer ballcup just looks cheesy to me. I'm guessing they did that for the link to clear the front shock?

Does anyone in the know have an estimate of the number of B5's that have been pre-ordered?
