Nope, the body was made and forgotten about because 'cab-forward' became the new thing only months after. This body was basically a "well, moving it slightly forward works so why not move it all the way forward and see what that does?" kind of thing. I'm sure that PL and JC try out different body styles on new cars to make sure that whatever is best is what they are selling so if it turns out that the mid-cab body works better we'll likely see more of them

Mmmm See I think the finisher body for trucks looks better than the bulldog body but I still don't like cab-forward for trucks. The Illuzuion body (original one, not the 'high-flow') was the sexiest truck body since the Matt Francis body on the XXXt.. But for buggies, I prefer the bulldog body much more. But, the same with the trucks, the punisher body and the regular cab bodies are better looking I.M.O.

They need to stretch the scoopless Illusion for the +8mm (if it doesn't already fit). That was the best B4 body IMO.

Seems like any conversion that changes the gear box has the same opportunity. Could this be more a case of some getting it right or wrong instead of conversion/dedicated?

The ballstuds I will use from the kit, just not the turnbuckles.

As you've pointed out, the B5M has a slightly gullwing arm which in essence lays the shock down more in relation to this line. However, AE have also changed the shock tower for the B5M which is slightly wider than the B5 tower. While this stands up the shock more in relation to the ground, it restores the lower angle in relation to the arm line to that of the straight arm with the narrower tower which means the B5 and B5M should have the same effective progressiveness between each car with the same equivalent shock mounting holes. Had the tower stayed the same between cars, you'd be correct.
How do we know this?

We can argue the science all day, but this is my experience with them.
Dark silver in the oil is aluminum oxide, from wear on the shock body. Was very common when AE did the Teflon, non-hard ano bodies.

Yeah, I have gotten it with the current v2 1mm, bb12mm and even the tlr shocks once the coating wears. But we will see how well these new shocks compare. All the changed was a true 3mm shaft, orings and oring bushing?

I think for sure I will get some titanium turnbuckles.
How about the ti nitride shock shafts. I have never had a car without these?
Aluminum shock caps?
Ti nitride ball studs?

I am really only interested in parts that add durability or performance to the car all though a carbon fiber battery strap would be some nice bling.
You don't need the Ti nitride ball studs. They will have zero performance advantage that you will notice. Also, only replace the bearings if you have a failure. The stock bearings are just fine.

Very good point indeed!! The dedicated "mid's" run a 4 gear tranny. I believe the "theory" is the 4-gear allows the motor to now spin forward which provides an inertia benefit.
I also know through experience with the X-Factory that they redesigned the rear arm geometry to better assist with rear traction.
So to summarize I think the cvd-bind, the rear arm geometry and the 4 gear tranny all benefit the dedicated MM design.
What intrigues me about the B5M is they went to the gull-wing front arms. They stated that these arms worked great on the mid while the rear benefitted more utizlizing straight arms. Am very interested to experience this--sounds like yet another evolution in these awesome mid-motor designs!!
As a side note--people shouldn't criticize any company that offers dedicated RM or MM designs. For the SERIOUS racer this is the only way to go.

Well gentlemen, i'm on the fence.

I would like a 4wd buggy. T/A or Losi 22-4. I read the 22 pages here and 67 pages for Losi. I'm not closed minded or stuck to a single brand. I find most rc people very bias to a brand.

What a huge difference in threads. The thread support from multiple Losi people answering questions is amazing. This thread needs official Team Associated support. People are left misinformed/speculating here.

This is Team Associated's fault. Many questions are asked and deserve direct answers from T/A.

Don't own T/A yet. This might keep me away and has nothing to do with your product!

Really unnecessary and unfortunate.

I think so. Most shocks are let down by poor piston and guide bushing fit. The old Losi shocks are really good in that regard. The older AE shocks improved greatly with Losi pistons because the pistons fit the bores so much better.

You know you're in a thread for a 2wd car that's not out yet correct?

Once the car is out the support from AE is great on top of actual experience from the rest of us vs all the pre release banter...

You might want to check out the B44 thread and just ask questions..plenty of club guys with tons of laps that can tell you all about it.
