Need some help ..just bought the b5 lite kit. Since hot bodies doesn't have 2we buggy, I went with the rc10( very 1st kit back in 92 was a rc10 so I'm back home haha...) thinking of getting tekin 3rd combo with 17.5 turn...with that be more then enough for this novice driver....have a tax 6.5 in my d413 n it's way over powered lol.( but I do like it haha).... Just need a motor that'll do the job for racing at local carpet n dirt tracks. Just want to make sure it'll perform n could really use gearing setups....thx u very much

Okay....put in a good practice session today, ran 5 packs through the car. I'm putting down the same lap times as I am in my KF2 but I'm WAY more consistent with this car. It accelerates, jumps and corners like a dream. I also noticed that it is a very forgiving car..bobbles that would land my KF2 on it's lid I was able to throttle out of pretty consistently. I feel like it's easier to drive this car as fast at the KF2...with the KF I feel like I'm driving on the edge...this car just feels extremely smooth and planted.

Here's the setup I'm running...only difference is the springs I have the kit white springs in.

I just picked up a gear diff tonight I'm about to build and drop in...that should be good for a few tenths on the carpet.

Running a VTS2 Pro 17.5 33/69 with the mechanical timing 2 lines from maxed coming off the track at 130-145 degrees

Got my light yesterday and it's almost a roller. I just need to build the shocks.

I must say that it has been a pleasure to build, and the ball cups seem to be just fine the way they are.

So what ever issue they had before seems to be a thing of the past...how tight is your cup?

I meant to mention the videos by CompRCC.com on you tube...they are fantastic! Just walked me right through the build process with ease. Check it out.

This is where I'm at now:

I know it's not directly a B5M question but did anyone here pick up a T5M and have the same ballstud/ballcup issue as they did with the B5M? My truck suspension just stick bad and I had to get the pliers out to loosen it up.

Well done Frank, I do prefer black myself.

Flame on! Have a great day everyone
I'm not flaming or even arguing but why are you so against Tekin? Other than a HW motor in my SCT, everything I have is Tekin.

I'm pretty happy with it all but I mostly bought all of it because the first ESC/motor combo my LHS sold me was Tekin and I just kinda stuck with the brand since I had the Hotwire and know how to set things.

But what difference would I see by trying other brands? Better performance, similar performance for less money, or what?

I had to squeeze all my T5M cups to free them up.

Are you asking what the difference is between a 17.5 turn motor and a 8.5 turn?

If so, basically a lower turn motor is going to have a higher maximum RPM and be more powerful. But the power is similar to what you see with internal combustion engines. Horsepower increases with higher RPM but torque may be sacrificed.

But then you adjust your gearing and usually end up with more acceleration and or top speed from the higher RPM motor.

If you have to ask, then a 17.5 is perfect for you.

I had to do my usual. Tooth paste, dremel, and a slight pinch.
