Running mod on carpet, I have my slipper pretty tight and a gear diff. My stock slipper unit was wildly (no doubt!) inconsistent as well, so I put in a Schelle. What a difference!! I'm not saying the stock slipper isn't working at all, but after installing the Nova - all questions answered. It drives the same every lap after lap after lap, in every situation.

I tried the stock slipper and the 2 pad setup. Bother were terrible. I try to set my cars for 3 inch lift.

Straight from avid, or your local shop. My local shop stocks the Schelle stuff.

http://www.avidrc.com/

The exotek eliminates the slipper altogether. If I continued running 17.5, I was going to opt for this, as it will give the most power at the risk of hurting spur gears or a badly adjusted diff. If you're accustom to hitting things,or are new, don't go this option just yet.

Back in the day we called it the mail order gamble.

You never know what you'll get!

Even back then, you bought the aftermarket "tuned" motors, and that's what I'd continue to recommend if you're serious about 17.5. There's a couple companies that build mass produced numbers and can hand pick them for you. Trinity does this with their "certified" line, as does Express as well. I believe R1 wurks does, but I don't have any experience with their stuff.

If you're running it tight, then I don't see how it does much of anything except what you need, protect the diff and weigh down the drive train.

I was told not to run the OEM slipper. I spent the few bucks to go with the avid on my RM car, and the Schelle on my MM car. They've worked fine for me, and been super consistent.

Everyone has their own experience, and that's really all we can lean on when giving opinions.

Which combo did you put in the schelle? Right now I'm running the smooth setup, and would like to play around with it.

I somehow got lucky with the D4 I mail ordered. It ran cold, and was a rocket.

When I ran my B5m in Mod on Carpet I ran the pads on my slipper Red White Red and really liked how that felt. I was running a 7.5 turn motor and was able to get the slipper set where the car would only go forward and never pull front wheels off the ground but never felt the slipper was really slipping either... Just that perfect mix of both!

What surface are you racing on? Mod or 17.5?

Default The last pad counts...

Depending on what you run on the very outside for pads makes a huge difference on the slipper because it has a plate on both sides of the slipper pad. So running a white vs a red is a big change in how the slipper operates. On slick to med traction I like Red (Inside) White White. On Higher grip surface medium to high, I like White White Red and then on carpet Red White Red. At least for me on the Nova Slipper from Schelle.

I'm still taking it easy with a 9.5, but I'm also running on dirt.
