Well I just finished building my B5M and I can see why everyone is talking about the ball cups. Those thing are friggin' tight as!

Hi,

Does anyone know the measurements of the o-ring cartrigde of the B5?
I guess the inner diameter is 6.5mm like most bb shocks but i am not sure about the depth.
I would like to install the associated x-rings on another brand of shocks.

Thanks

It seems like quite a few people got kits with the tight ball cups. Mine were perfect though out of the box, I did literally nothing to them. I would really like to know if they did a running change, or if it was just a mistake in the molding process.

Mine were tight but came from the first batch of the RM car. A little polishing compound and a Dremel and everything is super smooth and no slop!

Hey everyone, I've been out of off road racing for a little bit and just getting back into it now. I just picked up a B5M kit for indoor clay track racing and plan to run stock class with it. I was looking at possibly a Revtech 17.5, not sure on ESC yet.

I only used to run Novak, but it seems they are not what they used to be.

Also what would be the bare minimum upgrades I should consider right off the bat ?

Recommendations on ESC / Motor ?

Thanks!

no one is doing anything wrong. you can clearly see out of round ball studs on some kits. Mine had half that had the flat spots, those were the ones that would bind. The other ones that were actually round did not bind.

There is a bunch of good motors out there. Some will cost you an arm and a leg, some wont. My favorite 17.5 motors are the Reedy, Turnigy and Hacker 17.5 motors. The trinity maxilla D4 is pretty good also. For the ESC, you will hear many many many responses. But think about this... Stock Nationals First and Second place were running Hobbywing speed controls. HW esc are very economical and obviously good enough to win nationals. The HW v3.1 stock Spec esc is only like $129 and is very good. The Justock is also very good and comes in at $49, but it wont handle as many mod motors like the v3.1 stock spec. HW ESCs have a very smooth power band and brakes. The LCD program box is also very cheap and easy to use. Now let the ESC battles begin.

Thanks for the info, I'm am somewhat familiar with HW ESC's having run a 150a in a E-Maxx basher build I did.

The track I will be racing at is a ROAR track, are the HW ROAR approved now?
