I finished rebuilding / cleaning my mm last week and finished my RM last week as well... Can't go to the track until wednesday. I wish I had something to do with my cars.

On the bright side - guy at the shop had an extra radio spring and fixed my transmitter for me. But I may switch to futaba after looking at resale value for my stuff + low cost of futaba receivers and the fact that I want a new toy to play with.

Results are on LiveRC but doesn't indicate what car. 2nd overall was a B5M by Nathan Bernal

works fine if you get the weight down. that was a pretty flowing track also. I know there was RM cars in the Amain. So it is not like they are not competative

The a-main of stock was mostly b5m's, one rear b5, and a couple of the hobby pro buggys. 1 and 2 were both b5ms. The track really favors the way a mid motor drives, they're a lot more stable over the bumps. As Phend says, a mid motor is a lot less tippy, so hitting huge holes at high speeds works a lot better with a mid motor.

As far as the weight thing goes, I added weight and it got better. I was at 1530ish without the body on. So probably 1550 or 1560 with the body on.

Here's Jeremy's buggy on the grid

And my buggy, a little farther down the a-main grid.

does not matter how long you have been racing
Not
a debate , any experience pilot can feel the differences for each design .

A good racer knows which to use & when.

The different styles shells are just another tuning option to take advantage of.
To say you need a wind tunnel & computer's to measure is a big leap.
