Its pretty simple. Yokomo comes out with 2 newer cars, Associated comes out with their version. It takes the original manufacturer (whoever exactly that is) makes the changes to the kit to the associated version, (tooling, whatever) then we get the new carpet and dirt version. Then other companies like kyosho, tamiya, etc.. get their versions and sell them. Who knows maybe kyosho and tamiya get their kits before associated. Same process for a long time. Whoever sells the most kits get the newest stuff first.

Why buy any new associated kit? Damn good car with plenty of support from local drivers who know how to set up the car and hobby shops with the parts to keep them going.

It's a B5 Team Kit with everything needed to convert it to a B5M. It's a great deal if you're in the market for something like that.

Um, it's true. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw an AE Engineer talking about the B6 at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty legit.

Honestly, nobody here knows anything about it and is just throwing out rumors.

Price is wrong. It's $200 on the AE site.

What we know:

- Something IS coming coon.
- Look like AE is dumping b5m/b5Rm parts

What speculate on:
- New MM dirt car (B6)
- New MM carpet car (B6)
- Current MM car with a dot revision.
- Laydown tranny conversion for the current car

Thoughts:
- It is not impossible that a b6 is coming, it would just be surprising. The B5 has only been out 2 years. The sc5m/t5m are only about a year old. Would they get a platform update after only a year. Seems like a long shot.

- A laydown conversion is doable, i.e. the WWHD conversion.
- but AE does not produce conversions that require drilling and chopping
- so we would need a new cradle, motor plate, chassis brace and chassis minimally. Maybe a rear tower. Does AE feel there is a big enough market to get do this work? TLR thought so.
- But it still would not be roar legal, unless AE has convinced ROAR to modify the rules.

In the end, we are all speculating until release.

Also we are all focused on the buggy, whatever is going on in area 51 is going to have to apply to the t5m and sc5m as well so.........may take longer than we all speculate

The timeframe between the B2 and B3 wasn't very long compared to the timeline of the B4 series car....but then again the B2 didn't enjoy the same successes as the B5m.

I agree with most of your post but they have made a conversion that did require drilling. It was the conversion to the stealth transmision from the 6 gear one way back. The trany came with a metal chassis drill guide and if I remember correctly even the drill bit was included. However that was a long time ago when no car was left stock. We had to change a lot of parts to have more performance. The key is the battery area. But maybe a "Euro Kit" conversion or something like that? Who knows?

yeah, I still have that steel template from back in the day. Personally, I feel like a conversion is the way to go, as the b5m is doing well. Package it up like tlr and move on. There are a few things I would do different, like the front hubs and how the rear arms are replaced. otherwise, the car is good. But no matter if it is a b6 or a laydown config, new stuff is always fun.
