Can anyone running that JConcepts chassis speak to it? Don't want to drop $90 on it just to hate it and switch back lol.

Im at 1452 with the CE kit, Lite chassis, 4 gear, JR9100, RS Pro and SMC shorty with 14G under the steering rack...
A guy that runs with me is running a older kit 5M, Savox and Orion setup and he is at 1680...

It just really matters what electronics you're running I guess....

from a conversation i had with a smart guy, the CE kits were just a project to unload all these extra parts associated had laying around not selling. so why not market a kit as CE tell rivken and cav to talk about them and sell it at a price that both AE and buyers can benefit from. and they gain some capital back

I have along with many others on the forum, if you go back about 10 or so pages you'll see photos of mine.

Which lay down conversion? 3 or 4 gear? I used the lay down conversion from Shapeways 3D printing in 3 gear. I did not drill the two additional holes for the waterfall and I know of others who did not also. You have to trim pieces off of the side rails.

While I was in there I added cut down gears, carbide and tungsten balls and thrust cage as well as ceramic bearings.

If you are using the S2 body you will need to do additional cutting to the top of the motor plate.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

You can get the 3 gear lay down from Shapeway for around 40-50.

Also Amain has 1 left in stock it appears. They came in just yesterday I seen with an email notification.
I ordered two sets of ball cups from Amain and they seem to be perfect now. I did a quick write up about 10 pages ago. I ordered a set from Amazon and Amain because the ones that came with my kit were tight. I tried all the tricks but still couldn't get them to free up. Finally I used a body reamer and it worked well but then the set from Amain showed up and they were perfect.

I was going to order this tool but the new set of ball cups were good.

I haven't but if it is weight you are looking to save then spend the same money and get the CF chassis.

Jconcepts is 23g lighter than stock
PlanB/XFactory CF is 70g lighter than stock if I remember correctly

I thought about the CF, just wondered if that or any aftermarket chassis had any adverse affects on the car. We all know the JConcepts name, Im not sure about the others that make the CF... which is why I was leaning that way. JC claims that chassis to be just as stiff and strong, just lighter.

I have been contemplating ceramic bearings for my b5m FL for some time. I am not sure I want to spend the money on them. I will be racing 17.5. I had Acer bearings in a touring car years ago and I was not happy with them. Wanted honest opinions if they are worth the money for stock racing or not.

In the gear box definitely, you can notice a significant difference just by spinning the trans in your hand compared to the stock bearings. I would use a regular bearing in the hubs though. Schelle has the ceramic gearbox set and separately you can purchase a hub bearing kit.

A buddy of mine, bought the B5M lite, which comes with the FT bearings. He removed the seals, blew out the grease and oiled the bearings, put the seals back on and they spin a lot better. Are they as free as my Avid Aura Bearing, no. But they are miles better. I would also get the cut gears. When you free up the transmission, you make life easier for the motor. My temps dropped and the car was a little more snappy. If you want to go the inexpensive route, blow out the grease and oil the bearings. it will help.

Do the cut gears require anything to spin free? Deburring, ect?
